Athens has more things to do but for someone not young it's exhausting. On the other hand in Thessaloniki everything is near, you have no stress. I live in Thessaloniki so I'd say Thessaloniki is a better place to live. (An den painepseis to spiti sou...) |

Thessaloniki is "prettier" if that is how you want to put it. More developed? They are both a mess of development. |

Athens is more sunny, warm and culturely rich. The climate in Athens and central Greece produces a light no similar anywhere in the world (so it is said from old times...).
Athens is pretty if you avoid going to some ugly built urban suburbs where city planning failed big time. The city centre except Omonoia is full of beuatiful historic buildings, and the Parthenon overlookin all that, Athens is beautifull in the dark too, especially since all these buildings are lit to produce a very interesting sight.
I love to hate Athens but sometimes i miss that city for exactly what it is. |
