I've been to all except Switzerland.

Barcelona - loads of tourists but still keeps it's character. Popular for art and architecture.

Rome - really nice city, loads of historic buildings - infact too much, i would even advise you to read up beforehand so you know what all the things are, rather than just take aimless photos.

Valencia - i now live here. people don't speak english (but it' changing, menu's now in english). There is one of the largest aquariums in europe and i love it.
loads of places to go out. Also, a beach - which i don't like. see it before it becomes too touristy. Will be hosting the F1 next year! up and coming city!

Paris - not a fan!

Rome is great. There is lots of history and the weather is nice. You can get deals on Last minute for weekend breaks and many people speak english.

I highly recommend Prague, you could stay at Hotel U (Prince). It's cheaper in Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměsti) rather than in New Town Square and near the airport.

Do not worry about not understanding the language. At Prague's Ruzyne airport, they do have a litle English as vstup means enter.

Near Dejvická subway station, there's a restaurant/bar that has menus in Czech and English.

From what I know, there are young people that do speak English or a little, just enough to help tourists. :)

Prague has a lot to offer such as New Town, Old Town Square, Petrin Hill (which is a smaller Eiffel Tower), Charles Bridge, Orloj (in Old Town), Hradčany, Prague Castle, etc. You are even welcome to take a day trip to Český Krumlov.

It's not on the list of choices, but hopes this help you make the right decision. :)

I've been to Prague and its brill, but I'm off to Krakow in Poland and i've heard its the new Prague so to speak, really cheap for food and drink and steeped in history, salt mines, catherdrals, awshitchz, etc etc , really cheap for flights and hotels are apparently very nice. Worth a look.

when it comes to old buildings there is lots to see in Europe.
Forget Switzerland though, I moved to Basel 4 yrs ago and it's not worth visiting. For a sight seeing tour I would recommend Paris, Vienna, Rome or London (all are expensive though) or Prag or Budapest (much cheaper).
No need to worry Europe is very safe.

paris is a good bet for beautiful architecture. after all, it is the most beautiful and romantic city. however, be warned, if you do not speak a little french and don't make an effort, be prepared for a little arrogance. also, it's expensive but so are most of the destinations on your list. barcelona is probably a bit more wacky (see for some examples: www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/gaudi... ) and relaxed and the spanish do like to party. be adventurous, don't worry too much, just explore, have fun, and - most of all -be safe.

if u like natural beauty , go to switzerland.
If u r interested in history, go to rome.
If u want to see something different, go to valencia.
If u want to see beautiful building, go to paris (most romantic city).
enjoy!!!

I am living in Switzerland at the moment and it has a lot of things which are worth to be seen, it's natural beauty is amazing, and you can find different styles depending on wich part (french, german, italian and retorromanic) you visit. You can do a very nice travel there, (no problems with english, people are good in languages here) However, is extremely expensive.

I am from Barcelona and I honestly think it's overrated, so does some people from abroad which I knew when I was there (I just mean say some honest opinions). Valencia is really nice, more original and cheaper than Barcelona. (spanish people aren't very fond of speaking other languages) However if you're planning to go to Spain, may I suggest Madrid? It's my favourite city in Spain.

Rome is great, you have everything there, their culture, history and gastronomy set them appart from most capitals.

I haven't been to Paris yet, but if it's as lovely as the rest of french cities I've been to, then is a must to see. (I'm sure it is).

You can find nice hotels in all of them, however, except Valencia they all are very expensive cities. Have a nice travel!

If you're into architecture it has to be Barcelona, some stunning buildings and great nightlife.

Amsterdam has some great sights but it's usually the windows you're looking at not the buildings around them.

Barclona is an amazing city, very accesiable on the metro link so doesnt really matter where you stay, there is quite good English spoken so that isnt anything to worry about and people are very firendly, plus its an amazing and exciting city full of vibrancy etc.
Rome is a bit over crowded dirty and busy but would hihgly reccomend it as it is very beautiful and an amazing city, full of history and the rest. I like it a lot
Valenica is very different, not over crowded very very beautful, not a lot to see but has a bull ring and one of the nicest stations in Europe, there is a bech to keep you amused if the weather is good, i really liked it
Paris and Switzerland i cant really comment on as i havent been to either in many years however i would put in a reccomendation for Krakow in Poland, its a wonderful city with lots to see, very cheap and very fun
The other thing I would say is dont get too bogged down with the issue of language, its only a problem if you make it a problem, if u are polite and try then it will be clear, in restuarants and shops its normally obvious what things are, you can point and gesticulate.
I travelled across 17 coutnries all with a different language in 3 months, i onyl knew a little of 3 languges and i managed fine, as long as you re polite smile and try people apprititae it!

I'm Macedonian!!!
Rome or Barcelona
