Hi, I am looking for a short, one week holiday in January. What is my warmest option? Must have a beach! :)? |
Well, even the price should not be very high like Dubai or Abu Dabi, and not very far from England, like India or Australia. If you know a very good package (cheap) please let me know! Thanks!

Best European Island ? |
I am looking for an Island in Europe to relocate to.Where do you recommend and why?
It needs to be warm all year round with no cold winters and have a stable climate, no real risk of bad storms etc.
I need to have a fast Internet connection.
Needs to be clean.
People should be friendly.
Language is not a problem,I will learn whichever one I need to.
Cost of living should not be too expensive.
Your suggestions please Additional Details Right I have ruled out Gibraltar (coolish in winter )
Atlantas (too wet) |

Come to Cyprus!! Moving here was the best thing we ever did!
Safe and friendly...we moved to a village, Xylofagou, rather than a resort area, though we are only just a short drive away from Agia Napa.
We do get the odd cold day in the winter....and the evenings can be chilly...and generally, the most rain we get is in January or February, though, having said that, we haven't had any substantial rainfall for almost two years, and are currently experiencing drought conditions.
Our council tax on our three bedroomed house is around £120 per year ( our rubbish is collected twice weekly) Road tax on my Focus is about £43 per year, and insurance around £150....some stuff is expensive, but that has to be expected....as an island, much of the stuff has to be imported! Petrol has become very expensive over the last few months, and is fast cathing up with U.K. prices!! Hard to believe we were paying about a third of the U.K price a couple of years ago, now I guess it must work out at about 92 pence a litre.
Electricity has gone up in price recently, but is still much cheaper than the U.K.
Living in a village, we have a good mix of both Cypriot and Ex-pat neighbours, and all get along really well. We often come home from work to find that the local farmer had left a bag of fresh fruit and veg for us...we even came home once to find that someone had planted flowers in the garden!!!
As I said before, we are experiencing drought conditions at the moment, with water being turned off for a couple of days at a time ( though this isn't affecting the tourist industry in any way. ) Its very hot at the moment with temperatures reaching 35-36C on a daily basis....and due to the lack of rainfall....its very dusty too!! We do get the odd thunderstorm, but they are usually short lived. We do tend to get electrical storms due to the heat, but they rarely affect us in any way. I've never really experienced any problems with internet connection.
English is widely spoken, so the language thing is rarely a problem, and though we have been learning Greek, we find that here, especially in the villages, they seem to have their own type of Greek slang....though, they will do their level best to understand you!!
The cost of living does sem to have risen since we took on the Euro, but to be honest, I think really its a worldwide thing, with the cost of fuel etc, things are bound to be more expensive as not only does the cost of importing have to be considered, there is also the cost of distribution too ( no railways!!)
Come to Cyprus!! It is brilliant here! I'm sure you would love it!!

Madeira like one big garden floating in the ocean, not to hot, warm in winter, and if it was good enough for Sir Winston it's good enough for me. |

Marigold....how very, very rude!!!!!!!!
I would have to say Malta or Gozo.
reasons are because people were friendly, plenty of varying architecture, cheap eateries, plenty to see and do and it is now part of Euro so health and safety vastly improved.
Gozo is more green and rugged than Malta but equally beautiful. |

Warm all year round? that rules out everything except the canary islands in Spain and maybe Cyprus, but even Cyprus can be cold in winter.
Cost of living might be an issue, unless if you go to the non touristy regions. Enjoy your stay! |
