Best Places to Live in Europe---Switzerland?

Yeah, I would say Switzerland. Despite the taxes, when you want to raise kids, I think that that would be the best choice. When you have, or want to have kids, they would automatically learn multiple languages. We all know that people who can speak multiple languages just do better in life.. better jobs and so on. Plus, criminally speaking, it's very safe.. and you would never have to worry about a war!

Switzerland DEFINITELY

I would recommend it, if they let you in, which is not so easy, unless you are rich and can buy property.
I lived there in the countryside in Graubuenden for 2 years and I loved every minute, I have to add though that I am a native speaker of German, and learned the local dialect within months; for people with other languages there might be a problem outside the cities.
I am living very happily in Ireland now, but if I ever move again it will be to the South of France, and the only reason will be the weather.

Norway was just ranked the best country to live in by FN for the 4th year in a row. I live in Oslo and I don't complain. Sure we have cold winters, but there's no other place I'd rather live.

That's what that study said that came out in April of the best cities in the world to live in. Zurich and Geneva were 1. and 2. and Vienna was 3. My Mom lived in Vienna for 3 years and although she loved almost everything about it, she is older and can't take cold weather anymore. Also, she couldn't get the best healthcare there.

Switzerland is great but is expensive, even by European standards. I'm not a European, but my choice would be Austria.

Switzerland for sure. I have lived all over the world, and it still is my number one place. You can't beat the beautiful landscape, fantastic, top standard infrastructure and the helpful locals. I don't think it is that expensive. I can tell you that the housing prices in London are about the same as Geneva. Unless you can get to live there through your work it is very difficult to get a visa. They are very protective of their country, with good reason. A very unique place!
