It depends what you're interested in. I personally like it right here (Wiltshire, England). I am fifteen minutes from the great Avebury Stone Circle and an hour away from Stonehenge. An hour in another direction are the Roman Baths at ... Bath. When I can stand a four hour journey, it's either Cornwall or The Lake District - both beautiful in very different ways.

What are you looking for? Sun and beach, cheap booze and discos, culture and history, nature and views, or shopping and glitz?

Andalucia is a great location - culture, history, beach, sun, nature trails, etc.
