Yes. Calais is in France and Dover is in England. They are a popular port as that is the shortest distance between the two countries

talkingformydog
Shortest distance between England and France>>>28 miles

there at the narrowest part of the channel, where the distance between England and France is 19 miles, not 28 miles as a poster somewhere above me said

Dover in Kent, England, is one of the busiest ports in the UK.K due to the fact it is so quick to travel from there to France. You can travel on a Ferry (P&O, Seafrance etc) to Calais, another very busy port in France. Yes, they link the Channel. They only link the tunnel above ground (i.e. by sea).

If you wanted to travel on Eurotunnel (by car on a freight train under the sea) that runs from Folkestone, and if you wanted to travel on a passenger train that would be Eurostar and either run from Ashford, Kent or London (Waterloo International).

Joureny time is approximately 1 hr 30 mins and distance is approximately 19 miles.

As per above postings, yes you can see France on a clear day from Dover, and also Folkestone, on the south coast.

I hope that gives you all the information you need; ifyou need any more I could possibly help as I live very near Dover and have been to Calais many times!

xx

yes they do. It's the quickest way for vecihles to get from England to France easily.

Dover a town in the county of Kent known as the gateway to europe, also called "hell fire corner" during world war 2.It has 2 ports Dover eastern docks and Dover western docks.,a harbour for pleasure craft,a fine Norman castle that is still in use as barracks and is only a couple of kilometers from where Luis Blerio landed his plane on the first cross channel flight in 1912.If you stand on top of the Dover cliffs on a clear day you can easily see the French coast and the port of Calais.
Calais is in the French province of Pas de Calais. It is traditionaly the easiest way to enter europe but since the building of the channel tunnel conecting London to Paris has declined in its use as a port.
