Can I withdraw cash from machines in Poland?

I'm going to Warsaw, does anyone know if I can withdraw cash from cash machines using a UK Visa debit card?

it depends on the credit/debit card you are using. you should check for the sign like Maestro/Solo/Visa/Mastercard/American Express/Diners/JCB, if your card is one of those credit/debit card and the machine where you will be withdrawing from has those labels also, i think that you should be able to withdraw money. so before inserting you card, check for the labels and cost card if it matches!

Yes, your Visa card should work fine -- certainly with the bigger banking networks. They all have contracts with Visa, M'card and the big charge card companies. I live in Prague (in the Czech Republic, that is) and we are at the same sort of level here with our banks and card machines as our Polish neighbours. My friends who visit me here from the UK and US have no problems and none of them mentioned any trouble with their cards in Poland.

Of course, any system can crash, so just to avoid Murphy's Law #978 (All ATM's crash ten minutes before you arrive in the country with no local money on you), buy a small amount of zloty before you go on your trip. At least enough to cover one day in good ol Polsko :)

And have a GREAT time!!

.
Yes you can i live in Poland and draw cash from machines using my UK cards.
You money will be zloties current exchange is 5.8 to the UK pound but your bank will only give you about 5.5.
You can also change money in the Kantors where you will get a better rate of exchange

You can! Just like in the states. Any machine there takes VISA or MC and other cards. There's even an option to use the ATM in english. You may get charged a small fee, I got charged around $2 when I took out money there. Have fun!

Of course. There is plenty of cash mashines around the city. They usually have bank logo above and are easy to find. Cash mashine is called in Polish 'bankomat', if in trouble ask someone - you'll be pointed towards the nearest one.
If you want to pay by card in shop you might get problems as British chips are sometimes not read in foreign mashines. I use NatWest and had problems when last time in Warsaw. But cashmashines are ok.

There are 450 ATMs in Poland. I believe their standard is euronet.

I used my HSBC debit card when I was in Krakow with no problems. There are lots of Cash Points in the cities, especially around the tourist attractions.
