Can I write an email in English and then get it translated into Dutch to send to friends in Holland?

You can, but i would advise you to use a real person to translate and not an online service.

I have expirience with translations, so if it is a one time mail, i`m willing to help.
If it becomes a regular issue, then you might need to pay someone.

It is true though that most dutch people have an adequate understanding of english.

Sure, write me!

You can try to use babblefish and see what happens. Go to http://babelfish.altavista.com/ and see if the automated translation goes between English and Dutch.

A word to the wise, however. I know German to the intermmediate level and have used babblefish to do translations - it's not perfect and some of the translations are quite commical - but unless you use a human translation service - its about the best there is right now.

Hope this helps.

yup just go to http://www.worldlingo.com/en/products_services/worldlingo_translator.html

its really easy.

If you need a hand, i'm Dutch.

I won't recommend babelfish though - it's really bad.....

Sure, you can send it to me.

P.S. Don't use the online translation tools. They don't work!

Sheriam
Just write it in English and send it. Almost everyone here can read English, of course some are better at it and some worse but I've tried some of those online translation programs just for fun and almost everyone will find it easier to read an English letter than the garbled stuff those sites turn out!

Kippax
Please don't use this internet rubbish.
As a native speaker of Dutch I find, like most of my countrymen from what I've heard, English to be far more understandable than the utterly incomprehensible crap-Dutch babelfish produces. I'd take Cisje's offer if I were you or just write the letter in English.

manxbiker
in a way yes you can go to http://babelfish.altavista.com/ chose the English to Dutch option write your email in English then go for the automatic translation then copy and paste the dutch translation onto your email and send in the normal way
