No. If you look at the map, Wasilla is in South-Central Alaska. Russia is close to Northwest Alaska. Alaska is huge there is no way to see Russia from her house. |

No, she is not in the part of Alaska where you can see Russia. If you go way north and west of where she lives, to the westernmost island in Alaska, then yes, you could see Russia from there. |

I think when she said that she was just making the point that Alaska is close to Russia. There are two islands in the Bering sea, one is considered part of Alaska and one is owned by Russia. They are only about two miles apart so you can see one from the other.
Additionally, the closest city in Alaska to Russia is only 35 miles.Gambell on St. Lawrence Island is that far from Russia's Chukchi Peninsula. |
