Cappadocia or Ephesus? |
I'm thinking of doing a day trip by flight to either one of this two places and was wondering on your thoughts, and which place has what to see what which was better in your opinion? They are charging me Euro 189 for a group tour of Ephesus which includes transfers, flight, tour, entrance charge, lunch and all taxes and Euro 255 for Cappadocia for all the above as well. Is this ok or over priced? Should i just buy my own tickets and go over there and find a tour guide? |

Cappadocia by far is the best. A day trip is not long enough though. Also it could be really cold. It is my fav in all of Turkey.
Ephesus is interesting and a day is long enough. The season isn't important. |

Unless you are a history addict, what you'll see in Ephesus, you can see in Rome, Greece, Antalya ( Turkey ) , other parts of Turkey, Eygpt - and so on. Remains from a big empire,a colleseum, pillars , so on. You'll find similer versions elsewhere. They may be smaller, they may be in worse shape, but the idea will be the same.
What you'll see in Cappadocia has no other you can compare too. The volcanic remains like no other in World, and early Christians dug cities in it. It is beyond comprehension. My vote definitely goes to Cappadocia.
( How many days, 1 day is not enough for Cappadocia in my opinion. I was amazed by what I saw. Two underground cities, caves, houses, churches in volcanic remains and so on.. But even one day will be enough for being astounded. But you'll not be able to see all there is to see.)

EDIT - IMPORTANT !!!
==================
If you are planning to go at a very recent date, check temperatures/climate with your agency before you do. February is not a very good time for Cappadocia. It is beautiful in the spring. It is beautiful under snow too, but it may be difficult to track if there is snow. Climate is milder in the area where Ephesus is. |

I have seen many antique sites, not only in Turkey. Only Pompeii near Naples was more spectacular than Ephesus. If you are interested in antique sites it's a must.
Cappadocia is not only historically interesting because of the early Christian presence there, with the churches in the rocks and a whole city under the earth (9 floors under the earth with everything these people needed). The whole landscape is simply amazing.
I would highly recommend to see both but if you have to insist to pick just one, my choice would be Cappadoccia. |

Hello dear, please be informed that both Capadoccia and Ephesus are beautiful must-see places on earth but if you need to make a choice between the two of those then go for Capadoccia |

I've been to both.
Ephesus is just a day trip.
Cappadocia I spent 3 days and still not long enough. |

Ephesus was stunning - huge archaelogical site
but
Cappadocia was even more amazing with the natural rock formations
I'd go back to Cappadocia given the chance and with my digital camera now! |

I personally think Cappadocia is one of those places that you must see before you die. It is simply magical. it is a wonderful place when dusty and hot or covered in snow. Absolutely enchanting! |

I am a half Cappadocian and I suggest you to go to Cappadocia. It should be visited by every person in the world because It has a difference. The city(Nevsehir) is very old and the buildings are fascinating. It is not a major city in Turkey but a wonderful place.I prefer Cappadocia. |
