Eastern Europe countries are generally cheaper than West ones; but things are changing since they became members of EU. Food and drinks will be still cheaper in Bulgaria, Poland or Slovakia but hotels may not. I have noticed that hotels in Berlin are half price of similar ones in Warsaw :(
I agree with those who say Greece -Spain - Italy (south) used to be cheap before they started using Euro.
Note that Bulgaria is not using Euro as a currency. |

Some of the most expensive were Denmark and Sweden. In Sweden I thought I had a bargain when I found a bar selling Guinness at £4 a pint - and this was 8 years ago. The cheapest was probably Bulgaria with beer at about £1 a pint. I had half board accommodation so I didn't eat out much. I think meals were a couple of quid or so. |

A few years ago, Estonia was very inexpensive; hotels were cheap, and food was as well. |

In all of my travels, I have found Mexico to be the cheapest. Of course, I have only been to Tijuana. And, that was in the early 80's. |

Bulgaria, for me, before they joined the EU. Night out, meal (steak, chips and salad.) Beer and taxis, for me the wife and two kids, came to a grand total of......£20.00. Marvelous, Although I think I am right in that the prices have gone up considerably since they have adopted the Euro. |

I found Latvia to be very cheap.
£1 maximum for beer, cigarettes 75pence and good food for not a lot of money at all.
Have also heard that Bulgaria used to be dirt cheap but Ive not been there. |
