Looking at your past Qs you're in England.
£150 return available on Eurostar for the weekend before Christmas as long as you spend the Saturday night in Paris.
The ferry is often a false economy as you still have to get to the port in England and then from the French port to Paris. It takes forever too. |

Oh the Eurostar is by far the best!! St Pancras station is truly amazing. It is like a holiday in itself going there. You must pop into the Champagne Bar upstairs whilst you are there. I recommend booking a non-flexible leisure select return ticket in advance for you're trip. The journey is about 2 hrs 20 mins London St Pancras to Paris Gare de Nord station.
With this ticket you will get champagne, and fine wine served to you're seat on-board, and also a three course meal at you're seat with dedicated on-board hosts to see to you're every need. You will arrive refreshed and relaxed. If you want to budget slightly you can go on standard but there is very little leg room here, the seats are very cramped. I believe prices start from about £80 return standard and about £160 leisure select (well worth the extra IMHO).. give it a try! Eurostar rules!
Oh and also remember Eurostar is a carbon neutral company. They will offset the carbon emissions produced by you're travel at no extra cost to yourself! Air travel would be much more damaging |

Where are you coming from?
America then its obviously the plane,
England then take the boat and train once in France or Eurostar but that time of year there isnt really a cheap option. |

you could try to get last minute flights, some of those are really cheap, but you have to be prepared to go like at a days notice or less, and you also have to search for the flights. If you live in the UK, probably use the eurostar, or that new railway between london st pancreas and paris. that is fairly quick. |

BMI baby. Just flown with them to Portugal for under a tenner and back again for the same. Can't be bad, cheaper than a trip up town on the bus! |

My cheapest ever trips have been on my motorbike, followed by Eurolines coach service. Budget airlines of brill but as I speak aircraft are still unable to land in Central Paris, you'll need to catch the bus from CDG! I'd suggest you stump up a little extra cash and try Eurostar you won't regret it |

I wouldn't hire a bike as only parisians are likely to survive |

it actually probably is possible to get to paris by boat, sail from portsmouth in UK to le harve france and catch a boat up the seine it would be romantic and breathtaking.
other than that flying is probably cheapest. |
