ha I went to the Red Light District, but i didn't rent a whore, I did see a midget walking around in there which cracked me up. I did however get asked to join a live sex show, but declined. and I did go to the Sex Museum which was hilarious as hell! |

Yes and no. I've been there 8 times and probably the last 5 I didn't even walk through the district any more. Like a previous poster mentioned there's a lot more to a'dam than the red light district. There's a lot more to amsterdam than pot and hash too. If nothing else, food: shwarmas, frites, stroop wafels, haaring, brootjes just to make a few. There are great parks and pleins (plazas) which are fun places to people watch. There are the shops on the Dam Straat, Nieuwendijk and Kalverstraat, plus the flea market at waterlooplein. Ajax matches are fun too. If you make friends there, you'll find there's much more to see than the red light district. As they say, Amsterdam heeft het. |

No. A friend suggested I go there to one of the shows, but i was afraid i would be picked out of the crowd from what I was told by the performers. And yes, there is so much more to Amsterdam. But as the saying goes, verschillende slagen voor verschillende mensen (different strokes for different folks). |

Yes ,I visited the RED LIGHT DISTRICT in Amsterdam...NO, I didn't rent a whore.... Grandmothers don't do those things.
I was unaware of what I was going to see in those windows but once I was there I did my best to explain to my 2 grandchildren (girl 14, boy 16 ) what was all about. They were laughing at my embarrassment and kept say: Is OK Nonna...we know why these girls are there. |

I did when I was in Amsterdam, just to see what it was like. I have no need to go to that district here at home, but friends who do like to meet up with that class of women don't go to the red light district; they go to Brooklyn where they can get it for free. |

Used to live in that area for a few weeks. But why go to redlight area only? Are you folks going to Rome to see the pope only or to Venice to go to Piazza San Marco only? A beautiful City like Amsterdam has far more to offer then the redlight Area and the coffeshops, Beautiful Architecture, PArks, the channels, museums, Clubs, shopping area and more.
Don#t bring a city down to one attraction, see the whole. |

the red light district as become mainly just a tourist attraction... I live in Amsterdam and walk through it sometimes if have to pass by there, but I just find it quite sad and get very annoyed about tourists thinking that Amsterdam is just redlight district and coffee shops.. The city has so much more to offer than that |
