Yes, I do know there is much more to Amsterdam.
I do go to Amsterdam often but do not use (and often do not even see) the red light district.

I also know there are many more places in the Netherlands than just Amsterdam, I live in one, work in an other, and often visit different towns just for fun.

I wish many more people would understand the Netherlands, with all the lovely places and also understand that while freedom is good, it is not all there is to the country.

I knew that... and I didn't go to Amsterdam to gawk at prostitutes and weed shops (the reek from those places made me gag). I went to Amsterdam to--guess what?--see Amsterdam.

Plenty of people travel to other places around Europe because of cliches rather than for the true value of the place they're going. Take Prague, for example--countless drunks descend on the city regularly for stag parties. As if there aren't places to party, get drunk, and vomit all over yourself back home? Please. I went to Prague to see Prague, for the same reason I went to Amsterdam.

There will always be juvenile-minded yutzes making spectacles of themselves in cities like that. That doesn't mean that there aren't others of us who travel to actually see the place we're traveling to.

Of course I do - I lived in Groningen for six years, it's a rocking place, loads to do and see.

I live in Den Haag and one of my favorite places to visit is the beach. The dunes are beautiful and you can cycle through them for kilometers.

I know that very well, i'm half dutch and everyone on that side lives in different parts... amsterdam is a beautiful city and holland has some magnificent architecture, the people are friendly too. There are some other great cities if you get out of Holland and explore the proper NL

You are right, I find Dutch people very nice as well as the tulips. You have had many painters, like van Gogh (a lot of others too) and your country has an interesting history (for example the East Indian company). I think I have to recheck the history of your country.

Have been to your country several times and always liked the Netherlands. Should come there again, yes I will.
