You want my opinion, guys?

Even though this is a sympathetic event which encourages everyone to be sweet in his/her couple, I always thought that the "Valentine's Day" thing was a superficial and preformated pretext to please especially the stores ( jewellers, clothes,etc...)..
And I don't understand why my relation should be celebrated on the same day as the other person's relation, and I don't need a specific day for that.
The most important day is, of course, the birthday of our partner, and also, when this is a longtime relation, the anniversary day of first meeting or official engagement.
Which really gets me on my nerves, is this "almost official" obligation to celebrate that day "just because everyone does ". as if we were all clones or sheeps.

My special someone does know my feelings, and we proved each other the strength of our feelings, and we keep proving it again and always...So we don't need this boring " Day" which is actually just a ridiculous clichÃ© and a commercial joke.

Another things that I consider indecent in this event : this is almost a provocation towards all the people who have no lover, and this day just makes them feel bitter and sad... I remember the days when I was lonely on a 14 th of February, and people in the stores seemed to think that any customer was "obviously" engaged.

Either lonely or in a relation, I always consider that day as an ordinary day...
And as my girlfiend is not ordinary at all, I just have to make EVERY SINGLE DAY of her life , special...

Well, that's my opinion, with my particular "harsh" style, but I am sure many people agree with me...

Valentine's is one of those difficult days when you a. have no one or b. the one you love is so far way. :(

I haven't seen my love in over 6 months, and we have both moved around a bit lately, so the exchange of gifts isn't so easy. We will talk of course, but in a way, the sound of her voice will make the absence even more poignant.

To all of you here, remember that love doesn't schedule itself for the florists. :)

I don't have a Valentine :( *sob* I'll just sit at home, watch tv, and eat bonbons until I drown in my tears. Haha, jk :) I normally don't celebrate it. I'll let it pass as a normal day.

yesss, i did.
i made, yes i actually made it by myself, a photo album. and it also includes all the details about us. second gift is fortune cookies. i cooked the cookies and put love notes into it.
i think we will watch a movie tomorrow and the rest is still surprise for me =)

My girlfriend and I watched 'The Notebook' yesterday. After the movie she said that we have to watch 'Hostel II' on Valentine's Day because there is no other movie left to watch (which is not true of course).

I think we are going to watch 3 or 4 movies and will have dinner. No gifts...

No I did not. She doesn't like presents or flowers on such occassions. And anyway, she received three red roses on Feb.8th, our 27th engagement anniversary :) Besides, she has got quite a lot of presents this past year, including gold and diamonds :) We are expecting our new large double-door fridge to arrive this week, and still doing research about an LCD full HD TV.
We are not going out for dinner either. All the restaurants and hotels are charging double price for the same usual menu lol. I was planning on cooking dinner for her, but she just suggested we order something from outside and open a bottle of red wine and dine here, watch TV, and go to bed early.
Sorry for disappointing you. When I gave her Valentine's flowers and chocolates 27 years ago (just 6 days after we got engaged), she was surprised. No one here had heard of V Day. Nowadays, they have turned it into a money making business. All the romance is gone.
