Armenians and Greeks have been peaceful neighbors during long centuries, its a kind of old friendship between the two nations. This is why people love each others music and culture.
Dealing with politics, Armenia and Greece have close ties. But this is not an "alliance against someone else". It's because there is so much in common between Armenia and Greece not only in politics but also in culture.
We are really old friends! |
|

..Tolia..

We have been living along with Armenians and Turks for centuries..
our cultures are common so is our history and our past
we - all 3 nations you mentioned- are tied in a wonderful and unbreakable way
our music is so common, that sometimes you cant tell who influenced who
and please, stop seeing allies and enemies everywhere
world is just what you want it to be

This alliance is called
friendship. Armenians
and Greeks have supported
each other for thousands
of years, and will continue
to for another thousand.
Hopefully one day, Armenians
will have the same kind
of friendship with the Turks.
@ladybug- I really would suggest
you stop looking for reasons
to make Turks the underdog,
because we all have are own
"look I've been picked on too"
stories. I am sure you know
Turks have been responsible for
many tragedies occurring for both
these counties, but yet dwelling
on them seems to be not the most
appropriate choice when seeking
peace. Also, when it is quite obvious
as it is in your case that you have
only considered your own personal trials
and tribulations, one might get the
idea you are not very sincere. |

There is no alliance. There is friendship.
During the first decades of the twentieth century Armenians were forced to leave their towns and villages in what is today Turkey. Lots of them came to Greece where their children and grandchildren still live as Greek citizens. Armenians have their churches and schools in Greece and there are many marriages between Greeks and Armenians.
Personally, I know some Armenians and they are good friends.
We like their music, their artists...
Here's a song by Eleftheria Arvanitaki and the Armenian composer and musician Ara Dinkjian:

no i dont think that way
both greeks ,turks and armenians has similar or common thinks in their culture...
have you seen how many times have greece to turkey and turkey to greece, given points in eurovision????
nationalists can be from all the countries, but doesnt mean that
armenians and greek are allies against someone else.....
the only "allies" i might think is greece and serbia, but its not against some other... |

As you can see, Greeks and Armenians have always been brothers and their borders were always connected. but then a terror came which separated us.

They both hate the Turks and try to harm them at any chance they get...thats whats all about...hurt the turks somehow...
I am aware of what I am saying because there are many examples I can give...the simplest is the eurovision...its all about politics that is why I stopped whatching it...
every year the same... cyprus gives its 12 points to greece and they return their gesture..and never ever give a point to the turks. They oppose to everything thats in favor of Turkey or nothern Cyprus...same with armenia. The Turks made peace gestures to both of them many times but they never returned the "goodwill message".They say that the turks are stubborn but I do not agree with that.It always has to be their way and the turks are expected to do as they want. They are not willing to make a compromise. That is not fair.We want to bury the "war axes" but they always find something to oppose and the more the Turks say "amen" to what they want, the more they want from us...that is actually a sign that they are not sincere with making peace with the Turks. We want peace, but we are being back stabbed all the time...now ,I think its their turn to make a move and send a goodwill "message" and they have to be sincere about it otherwise this dissension will go on forever.
@alana...I dont know where you got the idea from, that I am not sincere, but thats ok...I dont care. But when you say the turks caused many tragedies in the past...could be but because we are talking about the far past but there is one thing I know for sure and that is that the european are not our friends.they pretend to be but they are not.they left us down many many times and even attacked us.even if they dont want to admit it,the reason is our religion and the ottoman history.why do the european insist of not respecting the present Turks?I have armenian friends, many german and british friends as well and we accept eachother the way we are.why cant the politicians too? That is why we still have prpblems with the greeks, armenians and others...the turks are being discriminated all the time..you just have to mention that one is turk...I blame the politicians NOT the ppl. They are just to arrogant and prejudiced to make the step and therefore influencing the folks as well....we can se that even on Eurovision song contest...whether you agree or not...thats the fact. |

Hello. To answer this question, one must understand the history of Greek and Armenian people. Indeed, both of these nations were part of the Ottoman and Byzantine Empires [Wiki]. They were both hated and persecuted by the Ottoman Empire at various times - genocide connection.
Greece is a strong partner, both economically and militarily.
They were the first ones to recognize both the independence
from Soviet Union and the genocide. Today, Greece is the second strongest military partner / ally after Russia. There are many treaties and agreements to strengthen partnerships.
In terms of politics, economics and military - yes, there is certainly an alliance or a common perception of the external world, I think. However, I don't think this has anything to do with the Eurovision contest officially ;-) But, who knows.
Let me know if you have other, specific questions about the relations between two countries. Hope this answers it ... |

It’s natural that Greece and Armenia are friends, that comes from thousands of years of history, they are both ancient countries and have so many in common, but it is not because they hate Turks or whatever, its because whatever ottomans did to both country and its people, murdered, massacred and then messed up their borders and much more.
Even now the government of Turkey is denying everything, so Greece and Armenia are way different than Turkey, and these last hundred years, Turks tried and still trying more and more to separate this two countries.
That has nothing to do with hate from our side but the opposite. |

I dont think there is such an alliance although there has been problems of both countries with Turks. Some Armenians come to Greek Section and ask provoking questions. Sometimes these provokers make hypocrisy and try to show themselves as they are from another country.
I dont think all Armenians do that and I dont think all Greeks support these cheap provokers. |

They're similar in a way because both Greeks and Armenians look similar to Middle Easterners |
