Do Greeks stick together?

When i watch Greek tv i am always amazed at how uncivilized the debates are.Always shouting and interupting! As a nation we seem to want to argue about everything and yet in the face of advercity i bekieve we would stick together.
Why this anomaly in our characters?

It is the temperament...But it is not just our characteristic..
Have you ever seen debates in other countries?
Have you ever watched turkish tv?Italian?
So, watch and you ll see worse things than in Greece, be sure...

vicky k
At least Greeks now how to get their aggressions out so they don't have too many people driving by and shooting at each other.

zigzag
if they stick together?
LOOK HERE.all the greek users got thumbs down.
And lets be serious...They dont come as we discovered by foreigners....

evzenit
We argue all the time when we are alone and between us, but in front of the common "enemy" :) we stick together, we would die all together! Because Greeks are proud. Everyone has his own opinion and he thinks it's the best, but in front of foreign forces we are not proud only as individuals, but as a whole nation!

Certainly...If i take for example the greek section and the attacks to the greeks by their own companions as i have heard...yes, you are so sticked together...

Antigon
They do, especially Greek males. That is the world famous "Greek way".

zusje17
Well I guess you can compare the whole of Greece with a family.I mean you argue with your family, you might not like your family but if anyone tries to threaten your family you stick up for them, you stick with them. It's the same with Greeks,I guess it's a bit in our blood too,we like to argue,we all are stubborn,we have our opinions and we aren't willing to set them aside...Sometimes when I see people argue I wanna laugh cause it seems a lot of them just argue for the sake of arguing...Also i guess a lot of the times a Greek thinks he has to shout if he wants to be heard(my dad does that a lot),so maybe sometimes it seems like some people are having a fight when the thing that really happens is they are just having a heated conversation, lol!

Greek people are full of passion. They like extremes. Our country has always had problems wars and battles. We are rebels and fighters. We like to fight for what we believe and we have very strong opinions. That's why it's easy for us to argue and fight even. In times of need though we stick together against the enemy. It's just who we are. Frankly, I like us. :)))))))))))))))))))

Cherry
You properly watched a reality that most of the fights are face Greek people they are not at all uncivilized I meet people from other country's that are more worst and they supposed to be civilized no my friend I am not Greek I am Cypriot and I can not accept that comment about that people. I recommend to you to just go for holidays and then you will see how wonder full people they are

fantasia.
Its not only with the Greeks. I have seen this in other races also. If you see Indians when they are having their Society meetings in India they have the police present to prevent any untoward incidences :D .....Im not Indian but I have witnessed this on many occasions.

carmelo_sabato
they afraid they would get a bad name it they get too friendly!

I watched some Greeks moves and I think they are together and they don't argue, they discus loud, same as other Balkan people. We Macedonians say: If there are not argue, there are not progress. So better positive argue who will over with right decision, than silence.

constantina B
Yes!!! But that's the beauty of our characters!!!

Back in the day, in the times of Alexander the Great and Troy the values were different, and we did stick together.
Truth is, Greece is not what it used to be. Its the people that have changed, with the Albanian refugees, the Kurdish Refugees, etc.
Its seems more today like we have adopted a lot of influences from the outside world. We too now are a country made up of diversity.
I want to believe that Greeks would stick together, but with so many other cultures in our little tiny country, it would be hard for people to find that spirit in them as it used to be. Now there dealing with problems they had never had to deal with.
I am sad for that.
