If they do, they shouldn't. Even though a small part of Turkey is in Europe, the Turks are Asian. They have a different mentality all together. |

We are Turks, simple as that.Depending on lifestyle, ethic background and values some Turks can fit the European model, some choose not to and dont want to.
Nope T.A.T. i am what i want to be ,and im secure with it.If your not secure with it,its your problem, wont change a thing in how i see myself. If you dont like it...tough.
To this strange person 'Tinribs'.How about you uproot a greek and place him in scotland to live,or take a ukrainian and make him live the spanish culture.Even so i think Finish people would feel right at home living a Bulgarian life.
If your going to tell people here that 'Europeans' biologically think different because they live on the continent of 'europe' then you need to do some serious self reflection. |

no we turks are turks- not asians, not middle easterns or europeans.
we are unique.
we are also very lucky as we have a mixture of european culture and asian. and no before you ask we don't have arranged marriages or get force fed islam. (we have a hijab ban)
bottom line is- turks are turks.
ow and you said "most of the world don't see them as Europeans"
thats funny cos your on turkey section which is located on the "European" section.
thats how you want to see them...
but the reality is turks are turks..and we dont want to get branded!
we are unique in every aspect!
just wait for our eurovision song.
oww and in what sense are we easterners..culture? looks? or geographical.
Actually ive got loads of greek mates…the tension between turks and greeks is political.
2. like i’ve said before, turks have a wide range of culture and looks.
My cousin in actually blonde and many people think shes an indigenous brit.
Also we have kurds in turkey, being Kurdish is just a descent and a different culture; we actually live together side by side on the same soil.
Oww and before I forget..have look at these names.
Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ and aysun kayaci
oww and one last advice..stop the racism. |

Are you asking or answering? I am sorry to disappoint you but Turks look like American Natives, Brits, Greeks, Italians, Africans, Asians, Germans, Indians and I don't know what else.
Did the world's problems stress you out? Why do YOU care? |

I don't believe we,Turks are europeans. We are culturally very different.Far far away.Religion, which effects culture directly, is also a very big difference.
But, we must bear in mind that being a european is not about culture or race anymore. It's more about politics. And Turkey always had a great role in european politics. From that point of view i can say Turkey is more european than Portugal,Belgium,Denmark and so on.
I also want to point out that europe has almost no power in todays balances.USA, China and Russia are the taking the leading role.India,Korea will follow.
As to correct you, Turks (which was Ottoman Empire those days) was accepted in those times' european union. So they were not always considered as near easterns after all huh?
And if you can't see the difference between Turks and Syrians, please do not try to understand what i'm talking about.Because then i can't tell the difference between you andth e people who cannot tell the difference between Chinese,Japanese,Koreans .. |

I'm Turkish I consider myself more Asian than European obviously u can't tell the difference because Germans are BLONDE like white blonde *rolls eyes* bad example what about Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain etc countires that recieve more heat from the sun( ppl assume i'm from one of those countires ) |

I don't consider myself European who claim to be the most democratic and tolerant people in the world although most of whom are deep down nothing but biased, hypocrite racists who cannot tolerate anything "uneuropean".
Turks as a race are neither European nor Middle Eastern, but they are actually from Central Asia.
Plus, I have no concerns about looking like a Syrian, a Norwegian or anything else. Because, unlike you, I'm not a racist and I know that everyone is equally human. |

I dont know where do you live, but the info we get in the western part of the world is that Turkey is located in both continents Asia and Europe, only separated by the Bosphorus strait and technically its most important city, Istanbul, is located in the European Continent. As it was said above, if you paid such attention when you post your question, you must seen that Turkey is in the European section of Yahoo Answers. Even in SPorts and Entertainment, Turkey is considered in European competitions like the UEFA Champions and Eurovision. For those whoi says that Turks looks different than Germans, well I would say the same between Greeks, Albanians, Bulgarians and Norweigans.
But ok....after all this "Turkey is very close to Europe" thing...........guess what, Turks are proud to be Turks and neither they want to be European nor Asian...................I mean why they should decide to be only European when they can be part of both worlds......and after all, they say this century will be ALL ABOUT ASIA.....(Say Ni Hao! to China please). |

They know they are NOT European. They do not THINK like a European, compare a Norwegian and a Turk? See the difference.
They look at the world and women quite differently. |
