It depends on your nationality. As both countries (and the intermediary ones) are all part of the EU then if you have an official ID card then this can also be used instead of a passport. (This is only applicable for EU)
However if you are a Brit, then a passport is the only item you can use as the UK (despite much umming and arghhing about it) do not have a National Identity Card system. So yes,as you will leave the borders of the UK to mainland Europe, you will need to get a passport which will be checked upon entry to the train (and/or exit/entry of the UK) |

UK is not a Schengen Country like Nethers. So, you need to carry your passport. If you hold UK Passport, you do not need a visa in advance. Many passports (nationalities) need a Schngen visa in advance before travelling to Netherlands, even if they have residency in UK. |

You will need to be able to identify yourself when traveling abroad.
Whether or not is is asked, you still are required to have an ID card or a passport on any foreign travels.
So, yes, you need one. |

Most of the answers given below are wrong. You do NOT necessarily need a passport. I am English and I use my passport but my wife can use her Italian I.D. card instead of a passport when travelling within Europe. Several European countries have ID cards which can be used as well as passports. The answer thus depends on where you are from. In UK we do not have ID cards so passport is needed. If you are Italian etc then passport or ID card are fine. |

It depends on your nationality. Members of the European Union (EU) or European Economic Area (EEA) may travel with either their passports or their national identification cards. Since British nationals do not have an identification card, they are required to have a passport to travel to the Netherlands. |

How fast? If you travel so fast that you are transported back in time to before the EU was formed then yes, otherwise no. |
