Not too many but yes. There are pig farms in Turkey and in some grocery stores like Migros or Carrefour they sell sandwich meat that contains pork. A lot of Muslims don't even bother turning around the package and read the contents, since they think they live in Turkey and therefore no reason to suspect that. |

No, there are not many people who eat pork in Turkey, and yes it's allowed in Turkey. |

I my self have never eaten pork, and dont plan to because its against my religion
PS pork is FORBIDDEN in islam you cant eat it if you wish to
but not every one in turkey is muslim so there is a pork market |

Qu'est ce que tu pense?

In the US, it's hard not to eat pork. American food companies always somehow try to slip some pork into any meat, so it's hard for the Jews and Muslims to avoid it. In Turkey, it's much easier though. If a Muslim Turk were that devote, they would not eat pork. Yet, eating pork shouldn't have you feel less religious than somebody who does not. In my opinion, I think it's just a silly regulation that is practiced by the devote Muslims who are terribly afraid of God's wrath. |

Some do actually. I don't prefer because it is a meat of the lowest quality, harmful for your health and has lots of parasites. |

And Turks not only afroid from God (we say Allah in Turkish) but also love Allah like Mevlana. |

It isn't sold widely like in Christian countries. You can find pork products in big supermarkets only, if you can.
As for how many, well. We didn't count. In my opinion we try it out of curiousity and find out that it isn't as good as veal. At least that's what I think. |

Yummy Canadian Bacon & Cheddar Waffles
Here's a twist on a breakfast favourite that kids will surely love—even for dinner. Wrap them up and take them with you when you need to eat on the run :)
serves:Makes 10 waffles
time:40 minutes
1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
2 tbsp granulated sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs, separated
1 3/4 cups milk
3 tbsp vegetable oil
2 cups coarsely grated sharp cheddar
6 slices bacon, cooked, drained and roughly chopped
maple flakes* or maple syrup for serving
Preheat waffle iron to medium high.
Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder and salt together in a bowl and set aside.
In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks, milk and oil together. Add flour mixture and stir until just combined. Stir in bacon and cheddar, being careful not to over-mix.
Beat egg whites in a small bowl until stiff but not dry. Fold whites into batter.
Spoon 1/2 cup batter into waffle iron. Close and cook until golden and crisp, about 5-6 minutes. Repeat with remaining batter.
To serve, drizzle with maple syrup, or for a crunchy alternative, sprinkle with maple flakes.
* Maple flakes are dried granules made from pure maple syrup. They pack the same great maple flavour without the stickiness. Look for a carton or bag in the maple syrup aisle. |

So this questions was busying your mind for a while huh? What an intriguing question...
Of course the majority of Turks don't eat pork, at least the ones who call themselves "Muslim". But you can find it in superstores. Frankly even if I were not a Muslim I wouldn't be dying to eat pork. It is cheap and unhealthy. I ate it once -by accident- and it really didn't taste nice.
P.S
Ancient Turks, who were not Muslims- did not eat pork. |

I guess they eat it as they are sooooo european and liberated :) They usually sacrifice their religion on the altar of the future eu membership and wordly things. I don't say all, but the rest of them, unfortunately.. |

When I was in Istanbul, I did not see pork on any of the menus. I assume the hotdog venders were serving beef or poultry franks. Though I did not ask. I would say Turks, mostly being Muslim, are very observant about staying away from pork, alcohol on the otherhand, not so much... |

|

? ? ? I. A. ? ? ?
 |
What kind of provocation is that ?
This meat is forbidden for Muslims and for Jews
The Christian Turks eat it, of course, but as this population is only 1% of the turkish demography, there are just a few m:arkets in Istanbul that sell this meat ( and it's logically much more expensive than in Europe).
The Muslims have the "legal" right to eat any meat they want ( we are not in Saudi Arabia), but even the non-practicant Muslims won't eat it, for cultural reasons. Eating pork is a "violation" of turkish identity, in my opinion... |
