Life is hopeless when you dream.

Do most guys in Greece pay for their ladies when on a date ?

Generally speaking of course..and how do most young Greek women feel about this?

Yes, i am a Greek from Thessaloniki, and personally I always did pay for everything on my dates. I feel insulted when a girl offers to pay, because if i let her, i would feel like i am not good enough to pay for her and that i dont have the ability to take care of her. But when you are in a long relationship with someone, it doesnt hurt when a woman pays her share once in a while, because we men might not always have enough money on us or can be broke sometimes, and a woman should be able to understand this sometimes.

But yes, for the most part i believe a man should pay because it shows that he is a gentleman and his ability to take care of his girlfriend. Otherwise you will make a bad impression on her, especially in the beginning stages.

Its a fact, men always offer to pay,and the most of the times they do.ITs not bad if a girl pays once in a while though,i always offer to,its another thing if he doesnt let me!:p

TsGirl
My Greek guy always insists on paying but since we live in England i do get away with paying sometimes! I'm not sure how greek women feel cos i'm not greek but as an english girl i love it...not financially but i love the way it matters to him and that he is such a gentleman.

Greek men always pay for their ladies, when on date. They feel insulted sometimes, if you insist on paying, because you are implying that they are not capable of protecting and taking care of you.
In a relationship though, when you have already known well each other and you are a couple, woman pays also sometimes.
Young women feel flattered.

Yes it's still the 'norm' here.
What do you think Greek women feel like? It's expected - and they would be shocked if they had to pay!

friendlystranger65
Greece has a very strong traditional culture where men are expected to be rich, strong and protective of women.

chrisk
yes, most women expect that.

<3 lisa <3
yes, always

Vasiliki-Βασιλική
they pay any time.personally i have never met one who dont pay..
not only at first dates but always,in cofe,bars,restaurants,deliveries.....
greeks are very gentleman towards women...
(of course we like it)

daskalitsa
I don't like it when someone else pays something for me.
I want to be treated as an equal and not like a little woman needing of protection.

I must admit though that I usually let them pay on a first date because the check could cause friction but I inform him that there will be no next date unless we share the tab

ziggy
When you are on your first dates yes! But afterwords I think it's expected for the girl to chip in.I always acted like that and all my friends too.Since boy and girl both work it's illogical to expect everything from only one of the couple.
