Why are you asking such silly question - trolling perhaps?
No, they still using two empty cups and a string stretched between them for the communication.
It is a very good one, it does cost nothing - Lol
What is wrong with the kids from America, to think, that the rest of the world is populated by apes.
For your better info - they are using Nokia-95, E-66 and the I-phones from Apple.
Much more fancy equipment, than the one you use in the USA.

Service providers are usually not the same and cellular phone ownership depends on location. Most younger people in urban areas today do own cellphones in Russia. Not many people had them in village I'm from but many people there don't even have regular land phone service. It depends on location and age from my observation.

yes, even more.

I would say oh YES! Everyone has a cell now. There are several mobile companies which provide mobile service and so there is a big competition for the client. The service usually prepaid and as Russia is big, maybe not everywhere but usually the service between US and Russia is not different and I would say that people in Russia use phone and cell phone much more rather than in US as I saw.

LOL
Of course Russian own cell phones like people in the USA and other countries for that matter.
Most popular cell phone is of course Nokia. They also have their own cell phone services eg. Beeline, Megafon etc.

Have a look if you want to on the website above.
It lists Russia's cell phone company services.

As the statistics from our friend previously stated, mobile phone penetration is much higher in Russia than in the US.

If you're curious, the reason why the cell phone penetration is higher in Russia than it is in the US is because in the US most people physically still have a home phone (or used to), plus a separate phone at the office. In Russia, not everyone had telephones at home, particularly in remote areas. It is much cheaper and easier to just build a mobile network than run wires to every single home/apartment in the country. Since it's cheaper for the consumer to get a mobile phone than pay to have someone install a fixed line, they're obviously going to go for the mobile.

Why so cynical?
Yes.

There are several service providers - Beeline, Megafone, MTS, Motive..
Right now the cheapest one is Motive. I think there are more that I can't think of right now.
