Well, I am a greek, and unlike Selin above, I dont like to criticize other people.
I've known a few Turks and they are quite nice guys.
And I've known many greeks that are jerks.
Its not a matter of nationality. Its a matter of personality. You can find good guys and bad guys everywhere regardless of color, race, hairstyle or whatever.
And you cannot judge people as a total when you have met only a few of them. How can I say anything about Turks if I have not lived in Turkey? Same stands for Turks. And for everyone. Nor can you express an opinion agaist people based on their country's political actions. Politicians also do not define people's characters.
I prefer to live with my arms and eyes open to all, instead of placing tags on people's heads marking them as "good" and "bad".
Some greeks dont like Turks due to history. Same goes for many Turks. Well, I say WAKE UP PEOPLE... History is history and thats that. We live today not yesterday. But at least thats what I think.
What I can say about the Turks is what I also have to say about Greeks. Both people would be better if they realised, for once, that we are neighbors and we should start acting like it. We share the same sea, the same sky, and we even share a lot of cities. I hate about both Greeks and Turks that we always jump at each other's throats over who owns what little useless piece of rock in the Aegeum, or who flew over who's borders.
I think we are very similar as people, but both us Greeks as well as the Turks are too damn proud to accept it. Hope that changes.

I think that in this site, we always open a war between us and the turks..Be sure that nobody is caring about war, and why?Our interests, of both parts will be in danger, not of the big forces.People have nothing to share between them.Simple people. But politicians, based on a big percentage of uneducated people, they fabntize them, promising luxuris etc, in order to concurre a country.
In reality,turks are friendly, I go often, but you must know with whom you have to do. The people in west part are completely different, they are kind, helpful, I go often to marmaris, it is one hour from my island.In the east part they are a little bit more undevelopped, but it is not their fault.
Be sure all:If they want us to be involved in a war...who is going to lose will be both sides. And who is going to win is the country who dominates the planet.I suppose you understood which country is.

Why not?. They are people like us. The metter of personality has nothing to do, with your origin, so they are good or bad turks, greeks, english people...It depends how they are raised by their familly and environment, and if they have personality to asume or not the fanatism that some politics want to create to serve their own interests.

Well, then first get to know them and then ask other people to compare your impressions.
And why would you have to ask this question in "Greece" and not in "Holland"? Taking under consideration the problems existing in two neighbouring countries, this question pops up quite often and I really cannot understand the reason... I consider it to be a provocative question, only meant to try to create fuss without any apparent reason.
After all, as the previous poster commented "This is a travelling site, not a political one!"

it is childish to hold a grudge, like the Nazis. I mean there are Jews married to Germans now, the feud is over.

This happened between the Turks and Greeks like how many 1,000s of years ago?

i adore turkish ppl.
theyare so friendly and accomodating. when u go there for a holiday, they cant do enough for you. though it can be annoying when you are walking along a street trying to get somewhere or doing your shopping and you keep getting stopped to be asked to go their bar/restraunt. but you have to be firm with them and tell them straight no im busy.
my fiance is turkish. he is the most kind, considerate . loving, passionate man i have ever met.

please remember that thereare good and bad ppl in every country and religion in the world.... we should never tarr all ppl with one brush... get to know ppl first before u ever pass a judgement..

i am from greece and i don't thing that the people from this country are problem but the real problem is the covernent.all the people from all the earth are the some but with differend colors and cultur but they are still people!

I don't have a problem with turks (i'm greek) and i don't have any problem with any nation in the planet...I'm wondering though..how come greeks dislike turks and vice versa while they have almost the same behaviour...i agree with somebody which said that...it's not a matter of personality but nationality..but in my life i ve noticed that some people tend to have by far biggest percentages of narrow mindness than others...religions and propagandised by the television lifestyles play an important role to this..so i may totally hate racism but if u ask me to choose a girlfriend i would never choose a turkish or a greek one ;-) no offence ;-)

There is GOOD and BAD in everyone irrespectively of what Nationality they are it's what's inside that counts!

well, thanks all Greek friends, all of your messages include good wishes. i appreciate you all. there are some "so-called" nationalists in both countries who childishly abuses each other all the time. but, real turks and real greeks have no problem and i hope this friendship is going to keep on forever...

I am a human being and it would be unhealthy if I didn't like people!This doesn't mean that I will let them conquer my rights!Because we are friendly and like "them", we are in the present condition!

I have met Turkish people and they were nice and friendly.

I also have no problem with people from other countries. I am Greek and i have met many Turks here in UK that i live and i have found more similarities than differences. As 'kaustikos' said don't judge them because of their politicians and don't judge us because of our politicians. The people of these two countries are loving and very hospitable. Having different religions doesn't make much difference since we both like peace and want to live in harmony. There is a minority in both countries that has hatred in their hearts or so they believe, but it happens everywhere.

I like Turks --what I dont like is fanatic muslims who blow themselves up shouting Allah Ackbar. Seriously do you think the Greeks would have a problem with the turks if they were fun loving buddhists? Did you see the riots in Turkey when the pope visted the patriarch. I dont dislike anybody based on race. I dislike peoples philosophies. Hopefully moderate turks will win out over the rising tide of islamic extremism. Mein Kempf is the #1 best seller in Turkey .

Of course! They're the best, friendly giving aspiring and charming unlike the greeks, Go to Turkey and see how beautiful and unique the country is...but forget about the french, egyptians, and Isrealis/
