I met my Russian Wife through a dating agency and we will be married for a year this Monday and we are expecting our first child in Febuary.
We have a wonderful marriage and I am very happy with her. We met online and wrote to each other for over a year plus I mage two trips to Russia to meet her. Not to mention all of the phone calls I made. During that time we really got to know each other.
While I know there are a lot of people out there who say a relation ship that starts like that like that will never work.I have tried the so called "traditional" way to meet someone. Not to mention me and my first wife dated and lived together for two years before we were married. We only stayed married for a year and a half.
Yes, there are scams but they are really easy to spot. Any girl who writes to you on Yahoo or match is a scam"PERIOD". There are also dishonest women out there who only want to go to another country but if you take your time and get to know them you will be able spot them as well.

There is a thing called Mail order Brides, thats for desperate people who dont have the looks. They do leave though because alot of those people are financially well off so the Russian Woman takes advantage of it. Then Cheats.

Sure lots of women come to the USA to marry american men.I know of a guy who "paid" for his bride.They turned out to be a really great couple and he went to a well known agency.They own a small business together now.On the other hand there are some Russian women who come here,marry,cheat or kill their husbands for money.Most are wealthy Americans who take on a Russian bride.They take advantage of the money.Just like regular dating,there are good people and bad.You have to be careful with who and what kind of situation you are dealing with.

I've met two men who married women this way - they both met them at some kind of "dating" meeting - they went on a trip to Russia and for like 4 nights went on "dates" where there were 4-5 men and about 15 girls a night. They just talked and tried to get to know them. Then they chose the one they wanted. Both men were middle aged and the women were younger.
One of the marriages was fine - they get along ok and have a "normal" marriage.
One of the marriages was a nightmare. He didn't know she had a 13 year old daughter until she showed up at the house with her, she really only wanted to marry for papers and ended up being a terror to live with - she wasn't anything like the "nice proper russian wife" he expected - and she had a terrible temper. They divorced after about 2 years (which felt like 30 years in hell).

My uncle married a russian woman that way. It's not a scam but I would sure as hell be careful where you find one and what she's like...

Separate two things - dating services and marriage itself. All dating services are for-profit businesses. Some of them can be not very fair, yes. So just use a little bit of common sense trying their services.

However, once one meats a real person it starts to be a totally personal question. And it doesn't matter anymore where is she from, russian, chinese, american, whatever. I can give you a whole bunch of examples both good and bad cases of american/russian, russian/american, american/american, russian/russian couples. Anybody can. But would the examples make any sense in such a personal thing?

Hi there, I dont know for sure if it is a scam ,but there are a few sites that are real and they set you up for a meet with a few ladys that meet what you, and thet you are looking for and then you are in kinda a party with all of them and you talk with them and then on and on ,then you make a list of the ones that you might like and you have a dates, and so till you make up witch one. It cost a few dollars and it isnt to cheap. Now in my case I had a yahoo site and a lady from there Emailed me and we Emailed back and forth and sent pics and so on. She had to pay around 500.00 dollars for visa and about 1500.00 for plane ticket ,and If you have a 90 day visa you have to show that you have at least 3000.00 when you get on the plane. So you see even this way it ran up some money. The best thing in this we didnt know much about each other and by Emailing we got to know likes and dislikes and what we wanted and so we were already togather befor the meeting, and that way it wasnt how we all do it here, about the looks and what we have and how good we live, it is bare bones. how you feel about each other with out the touching. But the meeting is like you will never ever have happen again it was grate and she is the best , Not the spoiled ladys we have here. Hope that that helps a little there is more to getting them over here but it not to bad.

I did it, but we had this little thing called "falling in love" happen first. I've heard some people use unnatural methods to meet and marry (such as Mail Order Brides) but I can't imagine marrying someone in this fashion.

Russian women are marrying Chinese men in droves, because apparently Russian men are too free with their vodka and fists. However, there a bajillion bride brokers ready and eager to cash in on Western men's desire for Russian brides, and scams abound.
