Do you consider Turkey, based on history and culture, as more of an European country or an Asiatic country?

Dellarovere
We must first define what "asiatic" means...Asia is a whole continent, so history and culture viries from territory to territory. China, Iraq, part of Russia, Iran, Tailand are all Asian countries but they have nothing in common...
As for Turkey I would suggest the terms "eastern" or "western" with referrence to history and culture. And Turkey is both: Western orientation, education, way of life, eastern traditions as to hospitality, family principles, history, music and traditional arts.
A flexible, fruitful and pleasant mixture of eastern and western features, as also Greece is... Both countries for geografical reasons have been the crossroad of many influences, and this is very positive, as traffic of ideas and style of life makes people more advanced and, in conclusion, more interesting...

P.S. Cadaunovera and Vaneh, could you pls state your country of origin so that we can judge your level of civilisation?
I'm Italian - Greek... What about you?

think about it like this........if Turks would be Christians ( there is a conspiracy that Fatih Sultan Mehmet would change the nations religion because her mother was a christian and Pope offered him the post of Romen Empire and thats why he was killed by his doctors ) the whole europe would be speaking Turkish now.

DejaVu
we have our very own culture...

our jorney started from china to gain our freedom as we were a race living in china but were not Chinese had our very own culture...we found a new land then have affected the people who were already living there and also been affected by their culture, but no one can call Turks Asian or European as we are just Turks can not be put into categories...

thanks for your interest and good question..

greetings from Türkiye!!!

asiatic. asian cultures is more powerful and stronger. we still have our old traditions. europen cultures are getting rotten. we still remain stronger. i am chinese i would like to see turkey more asian than europen.

More like a European country

travelled thrtough more than 2 third of Europe and 3 fourth of Turkey over the past 25 years...

I ever contacted personally with thousands of people from all walks of life, either in Turkey or in the terrain from Greece to Portugal....

I'd say Turkey has all the basic qualities a European country could ever have and no Asiatic country could ever be western-related as Turkey is.

KD S
They have their own culture. They originate from southeastern part of china. Tey migrated towards the middle east, and were mostly mercenaries.

The poster who said that Africans were living in caves. Well lets just say you're an idiot. You have the Egyptians, and the Nubians.

Maybe Europe though.. Turkish is mostly asiatic with a mixture of european culture that was influenced by the byzantine empire.

The funny thing people do not know our history talk about it.Our ancestors' first alphabet was made more than 2500 years before. We have such a great history that I cannot tell all of it here. However,I can say that it consists of parts from Europe,Asia and more while it has its own style too.
About the question,Turkey has both of them but the European side (I prefer using the term of the West) is getting stronger day by day.As Turks are really good at adopting new things but not stealing at all.

Politically we are European, culturally we are Asian. :-)

We have our own culture more than 10.000 years.

While Europeans and Africans were living in caves and hunting for food , we were building bridges and working on farms.

sooooooo funny answers from the Turks!
I wanna let you know that they were uncivilized when migrated to Anatolia, Iran and Caucasus (they will call this insulting, but its a fact). They had NO alphabet and NO civilization.
Its nice to mention that the oldest Turkic handwritings found is ONLY 7 centuries old!!! While some of them claim "we have a culture of more than 10,000 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Its really funny!
I DON'T say they are the same today, they are changed a lot, but they lie about their stolen culture and history.
Consider the so-called Turkish alphabet, they used to use Arabic alphabet only 80 years ago while they suddenly imitated the Latin alphabet to write Turkish!
Why?! To show a European-like face!
And it is so in many other cases.

Sorry, Turkish guys but you never say the truth.

cadaunovera
Its funny how they consider themselves as EUROPEANS!hahahaha.MONGOLIANS!
