1)America we can view it in 3 parts
a)The people of America:Just how we see Hungarians,French normal we do not have any hostility against them.
b)The Bush Government:Every body hates the bush government so...
c)The Obama government:The best possible government for America and has greatly improved public opinion on American politics
2)Anti-Black African Asian or anti newish views do not exist in Turkey (in normal people anyway) as Turkey nor the ottomans has never had a very small slave trade the view of White above black does not exist as well as Asian and Jewish thing work the same way.
3)our stereo type on American people:None relay as much s I know but I know people who call American's hummer driving 300 kilo ... so your overly capitalistic views may be the only stereo type about the government America =Oil mongerers. |

Yes, I like Americans and I have American friends.
You will see some Black /African people in Turkey especially in touristy areas as visitors and in big cities like Istanbul perhaps some in Ankara permanently living but there are not very many. Barely none..If you are planning to visit Turkey, I don’t feel the number of Black/African people living in Turkey should be a concern.
I hope this helps.. |

Bix Beiderbecke is American. Billie Holiday is American. Louis Armstrong is American. John Steinbeck is American. Gregory Peck is American. Abraham Lincoln is American. Some friends are Americans. Yes, I love Americans.
G.W. Bush is American. His father is American. His brother is American. Charles Manson is American. The guy who stood next to me in Sixtine Chappel saying "It's way too blue!" is American (arrgghhh!). Yes, I hate Americans.
Turkish people don't have any problems with black people. I can't say the number though. |

I dont hate americans, im working in tourism, and americans are polite and nice people. I just dont like their government ( former one) Coz they try to influce that muslims are terrorist..I also dont like who has this idea.
About Africans; there are not much African in Turkey, i only see them in Reggae bars...If you ask if i like them, i like them as much as i like another whites. |

To be honest i feel sympaty to them. They re easier to comminicate than Europeans i think. My Aunt had an american neighbours from texas. They were real fun to spend time. They re very energetic cheerfull guys.
Alsa in the greek course i had an american friend who has perfect raki(turkish traditional alcohol) culture better than mine.
But on the other hand just like many turkish i dont like US policies on the world. Bush has rather negative fame. Hating one for their nationality is a sheer shame. We can be against to ideas but being against to a personality is far different things than that.
No generalization but I met many american who agree with me on this issue.
I think there is anti-americanism in turkey but i havent heard anyone cursing american but bush and US troop when they get bad news on the TV news. " US air-plane bombed some afghans having wedding party at that time" or "A bomb exploded in Baghdat so many wounded". I am sure many americans re soory for that but it leads to anti-americanism.
There is nearly no native black people in turkey. when i ve been to istanbul i observed many black people who re student who came turkey for work etc.
Some time black people re called arab in turkish language. yes i know they re different they re called arabs especialy by olds. |

Most of us, Turks, don't stereotype one way or the other. Also, there are some who love Americans, there are some who hate Americans. Because most of us learn English as a second language, we feel closer to Americans and the British than, say, Finns.
We have a handful of Turkish people whose ancestors came from Africa with the slave trade and were freed when the Ottoman palace was closed down. I am not saying black, because they have mixed a lot and the colour is lighter.
(For Turks the word "black" isn't an insult, it is just the way to express a certain skin colour. Ottoman slavery wasn't as mean as American slavery. Although no slavery can be said to be benign, we didn't have hordes of people who were worked to death in cotton fields and who were regarded sub-human. Slaves included people from all over Europe, too, who were kidnapped or bought by pirates and slave traders of different ethnicities and religions, and sold in slave markets. Slaves that were brought to the Ottoman palace were well looked after, were educated and used as servants. Females even had the chance of becoming the first lady to the Ottoman sultan. Sorry for taking so long, but the word slave means different things in American and Ottoman history.) |

the modern people are good with Americans and the country in general and many dont have a problem. they may just be indifferent but there are probably some who may have negative feelings about America, but its not that much.
there are not many Black/Arfican people in Turkey. |

I used to have that anti-American attitude but having lived in America for a few months now I have a lot of American friends. And I have no problems with the people or the country. The ignorance of some people really makes me laugh my head off but they are in every country, right?
I never had any problems with black people though. I actually have sympathy for them since my childhood. :) |

yes that Is a broad question. I have nothing against Americans. However I'm sure Turkish people go with the Americans rather than any European. Because Americans actually are nice, woman or man, old or young, intelligent or idiot their attitude is generally kind. Whereas a typical German is known to be more rude and cold and having tendency to look down on you for a typical Turk. Yeah here we talk about generalizations, well we better not have them but...
On the other hand, almost nobody is Pro-USA here, most of the people condemn US government's foreign policy and how they ruin our world. Maybe it has been widely changed after Obama was elected but there still are many people who has no sympathy towards America at all. I think that's what you mean by "Anti-America thinking of Europe"
And in here believe me nobody insults or humiliates or does anything against Blacks as we dont for any other type people i guess. In the university im in there is a good number of black people just like there are many Asians and we get along with all of the. |

I guess no one has problems with Americans personally, so as long as you don't humiliate Turkish people, they don't bother you are American or sth. |

The Turks like americans as long as the americans support them financially and ideologically. If you are greek-american, or an american living in greece, then you won't be liked as much. |

They hate us. I had been a victim of racism and discrimination in Turkey. They don't care if you are black. If they find out you are American they will hate you because they think you work for the Jews. They hate the Jews like hell. |
