merhaba.
i thought it crumbled several centuries ago..
it did not "have" the three continents complete, not a single of them. At its best, it had Balkan of Europe, parts of Russia and Ukraine, and northern Africa /mediterranean coastline/. From Asia, at its best it stretched eastwards to afghanistan and Persia.
There have been many such empires in the human history.
Atilla was NOT turkish tribe. calling Atilla a turk you can as well call Slavic tribes "Turks" Turks were just ONE of many plain tribes from central Asia.
Avaric tribes, first attacking Panonia were no Turks, Huns were no Turks, Mongols were no Turks, too. Thus you cannot credit Turks with conquering China /conquered by Chenghis hkan -Mongol not Turk./
Signing the safe passage treaty for American ships only shows that by that time, the Mediterranean was plagued by Ottoman and Arab pirates, nothing more.
>turko> claiming atilla and Chenghiz khan to be Turks is like recent Egyptians' saying the pyramids and temples are built by their ancestors... that is bullsh!t... the two looters were no Turks and pyramids were no way built by arabs, who are majority population of recent Egypt.
claims of "glorious empires" of Ottoman dynasty, let alone previous Arab conquests are just painting the history in the pink colour. Arabs and central asian nomadic tribes usually just patched their loot 'n' go culture over the destabilized cultural regions - be it Persia, Greece, Rome, or European kingdoms. The single advance in culture i see coming from these new rulers is the Pax mongolica established during the reign of genghiz /not a Turk/ that enabled free flow of trade from China to Europe. and yes - the horse saddle and the harness.
>turko> biologically speaking lone wolves are rarity and mostly outlaws of the pack who do not last long, unlike your pathetic view of heroic solo fighter. regular wolves hunt in packs totally similar to the hyaneas. and both nourish from scavenging, occasionally.
>xanthochroi> i got the point i dont say they are not relative i just say that Huns were not turks. they might be turkic that does not make them Turks... :) it would be like saying that czechs built the kremlin fortress... or "tadj mahal"
Let alone the fact that the language similarity does say only a little about actual ethnicity of the nation. let's take the indo-european language family as an example -> common language is proven, yet the actual ethnicities are obscured. same works with the mentioned dressing fashion. - Slavonic/Slavic tribes arriving into the central European region at the 7th century AD were mostly using the verz same equipment and continuously took over the same fashion like the Avars - first nomadic tribes of the turkic origins wore at that time, or at least they used the same fashion the Scythoi wore at the time of Slavic setting forth to the Europe from their original habitats at Dniepr |

I don't know where some of you got the Turks/Ottomans conquered China. The Middle East is in ASIA, so that covers that part at least. The Ottomans went as far a Vienna in Europe.
I think to many of you are confusing other "Empires" with the Ottoman Empire.
And of course they ruled northern Africa. |

i've heard as much as gokturk empire :)
to infested by mindworms: as for Huns they probably met many peoples north of the black sea still we can say they're originated from western asia where turkic tribes were living thats why hun or hungarian word is derived from turkish phrase which means "ten tribes" their language was turkic and were dressed similar to us if all these things are coincedence what will you say about Kont Pal Teleki who is a hungarian historian and become a prime minister of hungary in 1941 was said that we're a part of pan- turkism i hope you get my point they claim magyar instead of hungarian because it includes many ethnic groups
no if you're right we have to say that turkish people who've been living in different areas in asia or europe for many centuries arent Turks just turkics well, its not true this term doesnt only show some characteristics of a Turk it also defines ethnic roots thats not deniable |

Unlike what "infested by mindworms" said, There were NOT many empires in the history like Ottomans. All of them were either Turkish or Islamic Empires other than Romans. If he can give us even two names, I will be so happy. Well he can not. Even though Rome was not ruled by one nation, it was close, but it was not as big as Ottomans were. Romans got first crumbled by Attila khan (another Turkish tribe) and eventually was ended by Ottomans anyway. Today there are 40 countries in Ottoman land. It had the most strategic geography, most advance architecture, most advance education and army in its time. Its borders was from Wien (central Europe) to Lithuania, to Caspian Sea, All middle east and all north Africa to mid-Somali. All German States, Great Britain, France, Russia, Spain etc had to pay yearly tributes to Ottoman Empire.
In all USA history, there is only one international agreement which is not in English. It was in Turkish and signed by George Washington and Mayor of Algeria of Ottoman Empire, because Sultan of Ottoman Empire was considered "king of kings" so George Washington's equalization was only one of the Ottoman kingdoms Mayor. Agreement was about security of American ships in Mediterranean Sea, because Mediterranean Sea was almost Ottoman internal lake by then. It took centuries for all western, some eastern, and some internal countries to end Ottoman Empire .
And I am not even gonna start to mention about Genghis khan to dear "infested by mindworms"
Additional info for haters;
No Need to Thumb down, I know reality hurts. Is not it what hurts EU? Altogether could not have made history like Turks did. Gray Wolves hang around alone, unlike Hyenas.

ADDITIONAL MORE INFO AFTER SICK TWISTS OF "infected mindworm"
First of all, I should thank you for proving my rightness of my "additional info for haters" and I hope other readers excuse my attitude against a hater.
Second of all, your twisting about Egyptian-Arab-Turk can not come from a healthy mind... What are you talking about? Even our subject was Ottoman Empire, it seems the whole Turkish history bothers you deeply. Your Egyptian-Arab twist can only be an example for Euro-Rome-Italian twist. You've just proved this to yourself, which I will explain in the next paragraphs.
So you claim Europe was only civilized and stable place? You got the civilization from east. At least you learned how to read, write, ride, pretty much everything from east. You were starving to death. So saying those Empires only conquered unstable lands is not accurate. Shame but I have to remind you; you learned how to use toilet from east. Oh yes until 16th century, Europeans were not using toilets. "Ops dropped from the window". Few of your (although I don't know who am I referring as "you", because Europe has many different hyenas ops I ment nations) ambassadors got warning, because of this bad habit in Istanbul.
YOU SAID "AVARS, HUNS, ETC ARE NOT TURKS". THEN IT SEEMS YOU MADE SOME LITTLE READING AND SAID "THEY WERE TURKIC BUT NOT TURKS". LOL you are just proving over and over again how it hurts for EU that much. Check what Turkic means in any encyclopedia. In your case, Wiki is probably only scientific thing you have ever seen, so you can confirm what I write here also in wiki. It's nothing more than another twist in English language. TURKIC=TURK (you can check wiki or another encyclopedia other than using my valuable time)
Third, oh my GOD! "no turks no turks no turks" I see how it hurts!;
I suggest for your future studies (incase you open any scientific book) to check every word you don't know, when you are reading especially Turkish history. Unfortunately, you are not the only one who gets hurt from Turkish history.
For example; when you are reading something and it says Turkic then check what Turkic refers to. Or when you are reading about Avars, a few sources say they are Kypchaks. Then you have to read about who are Kypchaks (although most says directly Turks instead of twisting). Or Tatars when reading about Mongol Empire, you have to check who are Tatars etc.
Unlike your history, my history won't fit in 2 sentences, It is impossible to teach Turkish history in 15 years, so we don't have enough time, I will copy paste from your only science source WIKIPEDIA;
Eurasian Avars
"The Avars were a highly organized and powerful Turkic confederation, governed by a central ruler (khagan) [1]. They appeared in Central and Eastern Europe in the 6th century. Avar rule persisted over much of the Pannonian plain up to the early 9th century."
Hunnic Empire
"Hunnic Empire, the empire of the Huns. The Huns were a confederation of Eurasian tribes, especially Turkic ones, from the Steppes of Central Asia."
Huns
'The Huns were an early confederation of Central Asian equestrian nomads or semi-nomads,[1] with a Turkic core of aristocracy."
The Mongol Empire
."It emerged from the unification of Mongol and Turkic tribes in modern day Mongolia, and grew through invasions, after Genghis Khan had been proclaimed ruler of all Mongols in 1206."
You can also search for "List of Turkic states and empires" in wiki but be careful it might hurt more than you think.
Here is a list of historical Turkish countries or countries that ruled by Turkish dynasy. You will see Ottoman history (which hurts EU) covers so little of Turkish history.
