Do you know nice Turkish jokes? |
Answering the Istanbul's name question, I was planning to lay a claim on Paşalimanı in Greece in the name of the great nation Ayrania, but then the following joke came to my mind:
The people of Rize (a city of 78,000 people) decide to declare war upon China, but then abandon the idea. Somebody gets curious and asks why, and the Rize people answer: "We thought and thought and finally decided that we cannot find enough space in Rize to bury all those people." Additional Details Shoot! A "mikro"limano wouldn't be sufficient for a great nation like Ayranian nation. :DDD |

Joke1) In a worldwide conference about the history of internet technology, the delegates share their countries ancient communication technologies. The french delegates say: "We have performed excavations in paris and recovered ancient copper cables from 20 meters, that shows that the ancient french had cable internet connection".
The americans say "In our excavations in New York, we have found fiber optical cables at 30 meters, this shows that we had broadband connection in the ancient times."
The turkish delegate says "In our excavations we dug as deep as 50 meters but couldn't find nothing. That means that we had wi-fi at that time"
Joke 2) Breaking news-A small helicopter crashed into a graveyard just outside trabzon. Authorities said they have recovered 100 bodies so far as the recovery efforts continue.
Joke 3) Temel and Dursun decide to immigrate to US for there is no job opportunities in trabzon. They have no money either, so they decide to swim all the way to new york. They swim swim swim, days and weeks pass, and finally on the horizon they see lady liberty. At that time temel says to dursun "You know what chap, I'm exhausted, I'm returning home!" |

I always tease my Turkish friend about the name of his country. I tell him if I started a country and wanted to name it after a bird, I would go with Eagle or Hawk or even Owl. Something predatory and cool. But TURKEY????? Come on!
He laughs and thinks I'm stupid. |

Actually, even a few years ago, there were in Greece populars jokes with stories of Nastradin (or Nasreddin) Hodja, who was supposed to be a very wise and humorous person. Jokes about how he use to teach "lessons" to brainless and boasting persons, and how he mocked stupidity. He somehow reminded of some old and wise Aristofane's characters.
I can remember some of his jokes. |

The irony here is that 'limano' is a Greek word. :-)))))) Anyway, I don't see any Turkish legacy in Mikrolimano. It's fantastic and it's all Greek. One of the best restaurants around there is one serving ancient greek food called Archaion Gefsis. Whereas in Turkey the most important momuments are mostly Greek.
Oh, thanks for the joke. Why don't the people of Rize send this joke to China? Don't just talk big. It's easy to boast and laugh from afar isn't it?
Where is Ayrania? You mean Iran? They are Aryans. |
