No, I don't think that greeks are beautiful at all!
Second, the people in north Greece look different from other people that live in Greece is because they are not Greeks. They are ethnic Macedonians. They look like Russians to you because of their Slavic origin. Macedonians, as you probably know, are people with Slavic and antic macedonian origin.

HELLO! I wonder why it is that they a fair compared to the Greeks in other parts.. It's a mystery.. or is it? I think you will find that all those parts of Greece that border with Macedonia or Bulgaria the people a fairer..

It's very naive to believe that all Greek women have olive skin, brown eyes, chestnut hair, etc. There are many blonde Greeks; there are many very fair-skinned Greeks; there are many blue-, green-, and hazel-eyed Greeks. Ancient Greece had its share of fair Greeks (there is evidence of such in plenty of Ancient Greek drama) as well as stereotypical darker Greeks.

Similarly, not every Russian woman has blond hair and blue eyes. My ex-wife was a dark-eyed, dark-haired, olive-skinned Russian.

Many Slavs (Russians, Bulgarians, et al.) have immigrated into Greece following the collapse of the USSR. The fact is you may have seen Slavic immigrants, other foreigners, or fair-skinned Greeks, or some combination of all of the above.

I don't personally find Greek women attractive for the most part - they generally have hooked noses, large hips, and are very 'round' over all (though this definitely doesn't apply to all Greek women). Of course, many men find this attractive. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?

And just for the record, I'm not Greek, but I live in Greece, and I have a relationship with a Greek woman. And I'm not Russian, but I used to live in Russia, and as mentioned above, had a relationship with a Russian woman.

1.There are many people who are Russian-pontic,in Greek rosopontioi
Inorigin are greek from Pontus and also have Russain origin as well.
2.Maybe there are immigrants,Greece has lots of immigrants,and specially the north part has more immigrants from the south,russians,bulgarians,polish,ukraini...

3.Descendants of Alexander are all the north Greeks.
The think that they are lighter or darker has nothing to do .
In greece you won't only find darker people or lighter.
Greeks are caucasian but they hair/eyes colours vary.
My mam is blond and has blue eyes,but I am brunnete with green eyes,does it make her descentand and not me???

Hi,
It is a great surprise to me. You see I live in Greek Thrace, in Xanthi, you will probably know where it is. I've been many time to Evros but never noticed such a thing, and you say they are like Russians!
That's a really big surprise.
In fact people in Evros are like everywhere else in Greece.
I can't understand all those theories of "blood", about the mixtures of the nations. No one can deny the mixing of nation in the whole Balkan peninsula, under at least 400 years (Ottoman Empire)!
And if it proves that Greeks in Evros (in Ferres) aren't 100% Greeks, so what? What is going to change their fate tommorow? What's the big deal?
You see, that's why I sometimes understand people from Western Europe that has a low opinion on people from Balkans (and maybe of Greeks too). A German f.ex. would never get himself busy about this kind of things, but we do!
I hope you see my point.

What else for someone to say? Alexander the Great gave you the greatest answer... mystery solved!
(oh by the way, the word "mystery" is Greek...)

if they disappeared how would they still live the people who has inhabited in thrace region for centuries in greece or turkey i dont know anything about bulgarian thrace are usually blond with colorful eyes you're right at the beginning of the 8th century Macedonia included many thracian lands it continued till 12th centuryand then in a larger scale under the crusaders finally, during the late byzantine and ottoman era
this term thrace meant a vague geographical unity so still it's

Muslims usually have a big population in rodop prefecture more than evros thats right there're some exceptions like dedeagac(alexandroupolis) 35 km away from the border

Hmmm... No, the Greeks are not beautiful, I think Serbs have the most beautiful people in Balkan, some one says because they are mixed with Hungarians, some one, because they are mixed the most with the Macedonians.
People in North of Greece, if you think about Aegean Macedonia are not like Russians, they are like people in Republic of Macedonia and Pirin in Bulgaria, even genetic researches proved that people from Republic of Macedonia are closely related first with the people from Aegean, Pirin and then with Croatians, Sardinians,Danish and Kalash people.I see one answer how they are bulgarians, how can Tatar tribe to be blond, hey, Bulgarians had Kan?!

P S I remember one time my father told me that there are small number of Madzuri in that region resettled from Russia (village Neakavkazia) in 1890,.. I'm not sure about year, maybe you are right that some of them look alike Russians, who knows,...

Because they are Bulgarians. My grand-grand parents had lived there and all of them are blond hair and blue/green eyes.
