Do you think it would be better for everyone if Russians, Brits and Americans could just hug and be friends? |
I am sick of politicians dividing us. I want to love you all. Additional Details Guys, I'm talking about "normal" people - not the zombies who lead our countries. We need to stop them making us enemies when we could be friends and share a drink, not a bomb. |

I think you are jokking.
We thank God that Russia is not a "friend" of USA !
I don't even make a comment for Britain, Canada and Australia because they are the "right hand" of USA.
This is not friendship, this is pathetic !
So big countries (UK,Canada,Australia) and they are the pawns of USA. Whatever USA says it's law for them, pity !
It's very important for the world that Russia is not with USA because there is a balance ! |

Yes, good question.
Especially as Russian sacrificed 20 MILLION of it's own people to defeat Nazi Germany in WWII.
It's madness we cannot see a common link between us.
Luckly we are all still Christian countries so won't be attacking each other on religious grounds anytime soon. |

I'm a normal person(a Brit) and I've got no enemies, its the politicians who are always telling us who the enemy is. Maybe its the politicians of all nationalities who should be doing the hugging. |

as long as Americans keep seeing Russians as the enemy how can they be friends. Americans love themselves like a lot. |

I believe each country is its own. They have their own politics to worry about. I don't even know why they go into each other's business. I mean, most of the countries' leaders are males, too! |

Count me with you.
Perhaps Gandhi said it most concisely: "Be the change you wish to see in the world."
Or, a slightly different perspective: what if they held a war, but no one showed up?

Well, sane Russians, Brits, and Americans are already friends.
It's the gullible and narrowly patriotic crowd that refuses to acknowledge the similiarities in favour of perceived immediate benefits. They'd rather associate with a black Bronx mobster that would gladly fill them with bullets, or a Pakistani refugee turning their country into a Sharia zone, or a Chinese immigrant willing to subjugate them - all of that as long as they're eager to wave their beloved flag and formally acknowledge a common cause. The world is teeming with threats against them, but they're probably too arrogant to see these threats and cast away the enmities they're used to. |

That's a good idea but we have a problem: a language barrier which is preventing the contact between us.Therefore we induced to look at each other through the prizm of our politics and media.Besides U.S military bases which are placed too close to our borders look very unfriendly. If the U.S behaviour in the World would be more decently then we could be friends. And you are right: the problem isn't in ordinary people.Problem in politicians which are dividing us and in difference of languages too. |

I genuinely believed that we could be...until I started showing up here.
I grant that it is unfair (not to mention stupid) to judge a people by the actions of a few trolls. But I've found their posts truly disgusting...
(Oddly, I am actively looking for pen-pals so that I might polish my language skills and learn more about the culture. Not so sure I want to anymore.)
...and I'm gradually coming to believe that a friendly person is a friendly person regardless of nationality. And to hell with the rest. |

it is a shame that the animousity between people is stoked and supported by a small group of politicians, who because of their position of power can influence views of a large number of people. still, this is how this world works. on another count, people do tend to dislike others, who does not belong to the same group, how broad or narrow you define it. e.g. while americans, as a group, may dislike russians, the dislike for others does not end at the country level. within america people from southern states, as a group, often dislike people from northern states, as a group, people of one race often dislike people of other races, even within one race people often dislike others of different ethnicities. it does not preclude one from being a friend with someone else who belongs to a completely different group, but on the large scale it seems to be the way it works.
the much bigger problem, however, arises when the animousity does not end in itself and when some idiot with views similar to those expressed by "squeaky" who not only dislikes russia (this is fine, as dislike actually cannot harm anyone) but also forgets that russia has thousands of advanced technology nuclear missiles, not to mention other weapon systems, gets elected into a high office. in the worst case scenario it can become the end of the world. we all hope that those time are gone, but ignorance is a powerful force that can in principle take us in any direction. |

Yeah as usual it all comes down to bloody politics. But when bR0ken H reminds us that 20 million Russians died fighting the Nazis, let us remember that that maniac Stalin murdered at least a further 20 million of his "Own People" So I'm afraid Russians will always be deemed as UNTERMENSCH!! |
