Do you think that if Turkey would organize the Olympic Games, there would be a problem similar to China's ? |
Do you think that just like the Tibetan (and not only) people who protest against China and boycott the Games, the Kurds, in the same way, would probably do the same thing? |

No, never !
Because we love ALL our citizens, regardless of their ethnicity,religion,color...Kurds included, ALL feel proud of being Turkish.
Whereas the situation in Tibet and Xinjiang is terrific...
Uyghur people and Tibetan people are really suffering of discrimination, spoliation and racism...
So please don't compare Turkey to China... |

Hope this may answer your question or, shed light on the issue you just raised:
First, the current anti-China and anti-Chinese campaign runs parallel with US and UK’s world I, II and Cold War propaganda. That propaganda for involving America in the bloodshed and hatreds of Europe–in World War I, World War II and the Cold War, was the same as that now being used to push and prepare the US public into a not distant war with China. To do that US has to rouse the public’s hatred and racial contempt for anything of China and of the Chinese.
Second, the US and the UK have been suffering a bad image since the start of Iraq War. Their image is in a fast decline, especially in Europe. For Bush, landing on any of the Western European lands would trigger off a protest storm. Furthermore, this year is 5th anniversary of Iraqi Invasion. Therefore, to keep Bush from visiting West Europe is a top priority in order to keep the world away from Iraq. This explains as to why McCain traveled to Western Europe on Bush behalf----a precedent for a US president-nominee-to-be to campaign abroad. It also explains well as to why that Gordon Brown has visited US twice within a very short time. |

is there a reason to be a problem?.There is not a kurdish problem in Turkey.Turks and Kurds live together without any problem in Turkey and also there is no social conflict. |

I think Turkey is peacfull country, but problems can happen anywhere, not just in Turkey or in China! |
|

Totally Blunt

Not the Turkish Kurds. Turkish Kurds share the same fate with all the rest of Turks and therefore would know how Olympics would benefit all Turkey economically.
But there are too many fans of Kurds west of here. Fans who like to drive wedges between communities just to gain some political influence over Turkey. Now, THOSE fans would be protesting Turkey for any reason, on any platform, for any excuse. Just like they are doing right now.
Nobody who creates strife people is the friend of those people. Friends create harmony, not disagreement.

I think that some of the answers already given are naively misinformed by the official line of Turkey's nationalist education.
Howeve, I think Turkey would not have the same problems as China, because China is a particularly bad example of wrongdoing, ham-fisted propaganda, and violent tactcis. Also, Tibetans have garnered a lot of respect and sympathy from the international community.
The Turkish government is similarly guilty of wrong-doing, ham-fisted propaganda, and violent tactics, but the Armenians and Kurds have not been so successful in voicing their concerns to the international community. They are also not professing non-violence. Therefore, I think that if Turkey hosted an Olympic Games, the torch would fly right through a sea of red flags on a fist-pumping, chest-pounding cloud of apathy and misinformation. |
