ive just had to pay Â£66 just for a renewal. it wouldnt be so bad if the country was worth staying in during summer. theyre punishing us for wanting to see the world! thank you, new labour.

Totally agree. I need to change my name on mine as I still have it in my maiden name but Â£66 is a total p*ss take!

yes, I agree the fees are definately too high and iÂ´m not just saying that because iÂ´m a Scot :-), I live in Germany and will have to renew my passport soon, i canÂ´t understand why i should pay more than double the amount in Germany as in the U.K. IÂ´m a bit confused first they donÂ´t want the Euro now they canÂ´t get enough!

I think you get a free week in Lanzarote along with the passport, which doesn't really make it expensive at all. Of course the British Consulate has to charge around 200â‚¬ per hour for any work they do because they don't work as efficiently as you or I. The real reason behind the high fees is that they are desperately trying to keep the british people in Britain.

i have just had to renew my children's 45 quid each, and only for 5 years it is a rip off!

In Norway the price is 990 Norweigen Kronor, 121â‚¬ or 82.5Â£. Yep high price in the UK . If you read the blurb sent out by the UK embassy it states that the price reflects the true cost ,and issuing passports should not be a burden on the taxpayer.

some reasoning is expected,the passport is accepted valid document,you are expected to take care of,every one should be glad to hold the British passport, I don't consider it a expense,it give's the travler certain rights when abroad

Why do you need a passport to fly from Spain to the UK?
As an EU citizen you should be able to go anywhere in the EU (therefore Spain and UK) with only an ID card.
Then, if you really want to have a passport, you can have it done in the UK and only pay once. So, I would advice you to check this option.
