in a way what you are talking about already exists-lots of borders went down,there is a european parliament ,european capital,european currency but the great thing is the fact that the states have their own identity.it's a smarter system then the northern american one . |

No, European countries do not want to become one thing. They want ot be related in many ways but not losing thier identity. That is why the Reform Treaty took a long time to be drawn up. They didn't want it to look like a constitution which would give an indication of a United States of Europe. In fact that's why the Reform Treaty doesn't mention the EU flag or EU anthem. |

Yes it could become the United States of Europe, but it would probably be without the UK. They prefer to be on the outside looking in.
Edit; to those that say the UK may leave the EU. If they did leave then the compensation they would have to pay would bankrupt the country. |

No, Norway don't like in EU, also many citizens by countries from EU don't like to be in this organization.Bulgaria and Romania are disappointed.In past was one country SFRJ in Europe and that over in 6 new countries. Federation not work, because richer and bigger countries will tray to be head under weak countries, give them order, citizens from weak countries will start to be more and more unhappy, they will feel self like slaves of bigger and rich countries(states) and federation will over very unhappy. |

Maybe in a 100 years.
Borders may get thinner , laws more similar but the day we will call ourselves Europeans not Italians or Germans is still far.
EU is not like USA and it will never be. Something new is beginning we have the chance to reinvent ourselves.
I would like to live in a more unite Europe.
The capital should stay in Brussels.
UK likes to be an island to much so i am afraid that it will leave the union. |

Personally I think there will be no European Union in about 15-20 years or so!
It´s a curse to us EU members, by the euro currency the prices are sky high. EU decides of so small details in our lives that it almost interferes with our personal lives!
In my opinion let us European countries be as free as we were before joining the European Union. |
