Do you value independence and freedom to do what you want?

Freedom is NOT giving you the license to do whatever you want. There are limits within each society as to what is permissible and what is not. Hence, we have rules, regulations and laws. That which distinguishes one society from another is how limiting its laws are to individuals' needs.
Therefore freedom actually means the ability to participate in the enactment of the laws and regulations.

No. I make such a mess of things on my own, I would rather be told what to do all the time. It requires a lot less thinking, and thinking is way overrated. I mean, with all the thinkers in all of the history of mankind, where did it get us? Look how wonderful the world is today. This is the result of all that independence and freedom. Peaceful fascism would suit me fine. The only reason fascism turns violent is that people keep wanting their freedom. Give it up and just live a gray dull life doing what somebody tells you. You'll still die eventually and it will never matter.

Since I'm an American, I'm sure that there are a lot of people who would suggest that's exactly the kind of government I have anyway, but I don't think you wanted a political discussion. :)

Totally Blunt
Well, yes, it seems. Even if I don't do many things, I like to know that I have the freedom to do them if I like.

I also like my freedom to THINK however I like and I don't like to be told what to think.

As my conscience is my severest judge, my freedom doesn't hurt others' freedom, so I enjoy my freedom without constraint.

Raj
I do value independence and freedom to do what i want it brings greater responsibility to me cause then i am accountable for my actions, i have to be cautious too as when i fail in it there is only me who i can blame for the result. Hence i am better when i have independence to do what i want.

It helps my self esteem and boosts my confidence.

Of course! Our freedom is the best thing in the world! I cant even think to get married again(Im divorced),I treasure my peace of mind, love my house,my 2 kids and my dogs, nobody to tell me what to do,but my conscience. Take care and good luck.

truth
Yes and if life is worth living for then it is worth dieing for.
Some think that killing innocents is their right and to control.
But with power comes responsibly and this is what make a freedom worth all. To own every thing is to own nothing and when we die this is left behind so while here you have the chance to taste freedom and choice then you love it and respect it. When you confront those who do not then you stand up to them to face off.

Alwin E
Criminal laws are there for a reason, and they are about the same, worldwide.

But beyond them, independence and freedom are the highest values and rights mankind has ever achieved, and to everybody who tries to take them away from you, there should be strong opposition.
