Ayran tastes best when cold. Here's your answer. You can drink it in summer AND winter.

And because you implied it always tastes bad (as if!) I sentence you to a big meal of spicey kebap WITHOUT ayran or any other cold drink. Tepid water if your life is in danger, but nothing more. That will teach you what tastes how! Hrrumph!

Ayran is a holy drink, its taste can compare to nothing earthly, summer or winter makes no difference. When a big glass of ayran is accompanied by döner (preferably "yarım ekmek") you discover what heaven is...Ayran for me is what Duff beer is to Homer Simpson.

Although i can drink it anytime during the year, you can't compare the feeling you have when you drink after coming back home on a hot day.

Perhaps you should wait for the answer of Mamma, the self-declared 'Queen of Ayranya'.

Me, just a humble subject of hers in this matter would say: Always!

However, the best ayran is the one freshly prepared with the tasty froth on the top.

If you have a mustache (boy or girl) the result of that froth happiness is visible for everybody. They'll know that you have just reached out to the stars and came back on earth...
