britain were not allowed to join the Euro when it was being introduced, as it's economic policy could not bring it's rates down to match the rate set by the ECB.
Of course, Britain blew over this fact by wittering on about being British and blah blah blah.

The value of currency is set by international money markets, and the imagined strenght behind a currency. The pound Sterling was always seen as strong, however, with the introduction of the Euro , the imagined value of the pound was weakened by the introduction of the Euro, which was being used, not by 60million people, but by 250million. So a buyer would more than likely invest in a bigger currency, like the dollar or the Euro.

The Global markets hit the US first, causing the dollar to dive, the pound stayed the same, but now that the dollar is strengthening, the pound is apparently getting weaker. The Euro is getting stronger and stronger.

It was inevitable that the pound would weaken against it's bigger neighbour.

I think the sooner the U.K change to the Euro, the better.....it makes sense really doesn't it? The pound is so weak at the moment, ( Your question doesn't make sense!!) they may as well swap over and just make it one currency for the whole of Europe.

England stayed on the pound because they are financially weaker than Germany, If Britain switched to the Euro, they would not have as much control as they do now.

British r clever people!! They didnt think about it before coz pounds was stronger than Euro. Now they start thinking about it coz of recession... Now Pounds n Eoro are almost similar so they dont want Euro to lead them!!! is it not strange!! But my feeling, since they have their one systems, not among sengien countries.keeping pounds is better for them..

If britain joins the euro now we would see our interest rates shoot back up as the central european bank sets the rate for the whole of eurozone and our rate is a lot lower at the moment. So if you want your mortage payments to double then vote for the euro

No. It is ridiculously overvalued, Germany and France set the interest rates which are far too high for the Eurozone countries economies to cope with. Ireland will opt out of the euro soon as will Italy, Spain and Portugal, they will have no other choice, otherwise their economies will go bust.
