I have been to Istanbul and there were a lot of McDonald's restaurants. I visited them quite often, but of course, I ate that delicious Turkish food as well, which I also recommend you. Much better than McDonald's.
By the way, my hotel was in Sultanahmet area, and yes, you can find McDonald's there.

The Evil Empire of the Golden Arches is everywhere, unfortunately.

Don't worry. In İstanbul in nearly every neighborhood, there is one.
Blue Mosque is located in Sultanahmet, so here is the address of the closest McDonalds:
McDonalds Sultanahmet
1001 Direk Mah Divanyolu Cad No:15 Sultanahmet

You are poisoning your kids with fast food, do you want them all be obese like most of the American teenagers of today? Once or twice, you should not let your kids eat that stuff but to answer your question yes, unfortunately there are a lot of American owned fast food companies in Turkey.

Yes, lots of. check the link, select Istanbul first, then Avrupa Yakasi and Sultanahmet. You will see the address.

yes there seems to be one relatively close, just a few streets down

http://maps.google.com/ in Google Maps first search for
'Sultanahmet', after google loads the Sultanahmet area
search for 'sultanahmet mc donalds'
the Mc Donalds labeled D is the one closest to the Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmet Cami) which is also visible in the map after you zoom in a little
*****the photo is correct but misplaced***** you have to find Divanyolu Caddesi(Divanyolu Avenue)[just search for this in Google maps as well 'sultanhamet divanyolu']
Divanyolu avenue is just a little south of the misplaced 'D' flag

P.S. make sure to locate the Blue Mosque properly in the birds-eye-view image

I ate at a McDonald's which is like about two blocks away from the Blue Mosque. Just go to the street where the tram passes, and go towards Çemberlitaş (the left if you come from the Blue Mosque). McDonald's is in that same side of the street. Go to the roof, there's a lot of birds in there that will eat your chips if you throw it at them :)

it's not good for your kids to only want mcdonalds. especially if you're going somewhere as exotic as istanbul. you need to introduce them to new foods, but make it fun. like an adventure in a new place on the earth, and part of the experience is to only eat their standard food and not what you can get at home. plus it's not healthy to eat mcdonalds all the time, so keep them away from it for a bit.

Istanbul Turkie

cut and paste from a Big Mac site in USA.. . .it does not give the address, but apparently there are to McDs in Istanbul - both sides of the Bosforus [whatever spelling]. . .

14. McDonald's first two restaurants in Turkey (Country no. 43) were actually built on different continents. The two restaurants, both in Istanbul, are located on opposite sides of the Bosphorus River, which bisects the city and separates the two continents.

. . . .have grunted and sweated over this, but cannot find the locations/addresses of the Mcdonald's restaurants in Istanbul. Just ask the taxi driver or someone.

P.S. Agree - Macdonalds treat for the kids excellent idea.
