If I were your mom I wouldn't hesitate to give the baby any name which would remind me of my country of origin. Why should the name be both english and turkish? Just because the majority of americans are of english origin? Just keep in mind that in US there's a lot of names of italian origin too, so there's no problem for a genuine turkish name...
P.S. Do you think that the name of the U.S. Minister of foreign affairs is very "english"? |

Good ideas:
Deniz
Arman
Eren
Danyal
Adem
Erol
Ozgur
Kurt (but be careful, while in Turkish this means "wolf"--a very important symbol in Turkish folklore--it also translates to "worm".)
Really bad ideas:
Ufuk
Tuna
****
Kirac
Anil
Oral
Anything ending in -ge
I would actually also advise against "Can", or anything starting with a "c". That "j" sound is going to trump most Americans, and his life will be a living hell anytime a teacher takes roll call, or the second someone realizes that "can" is a slang word for "toilet" or "getting fired".
You could also give him an American first name and a Turkish middle name. That would work out beautifully, as Turks usually go by their middle names. |

We named our daughter Eren for the same reasons. It's called like ERIN or aaron. It means saint, honesty. It originally is a boy name but we didn't care since nobody in US would know it :) |

what about Atilla or Attila or Cengiz like Cengiz Han and or Sami (from sami race ) actually most of the names arab originated that others mentioned like ilyas, yakup.davut are prophet names but Can, Attila,Deniz,Hakan,Kaan,Boğaç,Alp Alptekin,Cagatay and Cengiz are just beatiful pure Türkçe names for your lovely brother. But my favourite is Timur and ohh what about Kurt?? it means wolf and it is so important in Türk history.According to a myth Türks fighted with a clan and most of them are killed and the rest of them escaped to the mountain(They also say Türk population ended but the mother wolf gave a birth without a male wolf) and they settled down to the otherside of the mountain that no man can live there cos it was too high and they were surrounded by the mountains from 4 sides but they were used to the cold so they managed to live and by the time their population has increased and they had to find somewhere else that they and their animals can find enough food to survive but there was no way to get out there than a grey wolf showed them the way and Türks were able to go anywhere of the world.Grey wolf is a big myth and i do believe some parts of it.Because there are found carves in wolf shape in Mongolia.Of course i didnt go there but i saw the carves on rocks in Tv and i know Türks ability to tame and before naming the baby search the name again cos it may be arab .be aware of this. |

Turco-American families prefer CAN (djanne) as a name
as this one is pronounced quite like "John"
So the boy would go happily with his name among American firends in USA or T7urkish friends in Turkey all the same |
