Turkish lira
but some places do accept euro

khow
It is Turkish Lira, popularly called yenni turkish lira (YTL)

Edit: Be careful in using other currencies for transactions as they use arbitrary exchange rates, and you may end up losing lot of money that way. BTW Yenni Turkish Lira means "New Turkish Lira".

ustunek
Not "Lira" or "Turkish Lira"..

"New Turkish Lira"

officially the legal tender currency is the YTL (new turkish lira ! Any other kind of currency will be accepted, but please ask. it's unlikely you will be refused.happy holidays !

From January 2009 there taking the new aka Yeni out of the lira.

Δ°t used to be YTL Yeni Turkish Lira..... it will not just be TL Turkish Lira

The new notes will be in circulation from January 2009

lol

It is the Yeni Turkish Lira that is Turkey's currency. Turkey is not in the EU so cannot use the euro. Most tourists areas will accept sterling, euro or dollars and the exchange is usually good.

Lira, not yet made it to Euro yet, but if you go there with your Euro the exchange rate is much higer than the dollar. Yet, the dollar has went up dramatically :o))
