Southern eastern Europe, between Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria and Albania. Macedonia was a part of Yugoslav federation during the socialism. Small but very nice country with a beautiful nature and rich history, dating from Ancient Greeks and Alexander Macedonian. Multicultural country in which besides Macedonians there are Albanians, Greeks Bulgarians, Turks...

If you travel to Macedonia, you should not miss the town of Ohrid near the big beautiful Ohrid lake, Prespa lake, the town of Bitola and the ancient town of Heraklea, built by Filip Macedonian, the father of Alexander the Great...

It's in Europe, in what was once Yugoslavia and next to Greece. http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/europe/mk.htm has more details and a map showing Macedonia.

Hello dear!
Macedonia started forming some 28 centuries ago. Before that the region was a part of Thrace.
Now defined as Macedonia is the region included in three states:
1. NorthCentral Greece (free since Balkan wars)
2. Southwest Bulgaria and
3. FYROM (named Macedonija by Croat Tito, after the order of Soviet Stalin)

Aurora have the right answer for 10 pts.
But, "bunt", can you hear yourself, what are you speaking of?

FYRO - former yugoslavien republic of macedonia =greece, serbia, albania, bulgaria
macedonia is a northen part of greece

bunt
Macedonia is a georgraphic area on the Balkan peninsula. The nation language is Macedonian, which is a pure dialect of Bulgarian. Macedonia used to be the cultural centre of Bulgaria. Then it was given to Yugoslavia, one part to Greece. The Greeks killed and expulsed the Bulgarians from Aegean Thrace(Macedonia) and invited Greeks from the Middle East to take their land and property. Bulgarian was forbidden and so were Bulgarian names. Everyone had to be assimilated into the Greek culture.
As for FYROM, as a part of Yugoslavia they were heavily Serbisized, but to this day they many remember they are Bulgarian.
