as long as you are travelling within the eu (which Greece is) your passport only has to be valid for the duration of your trip they only reccommend 3 months in case of any extreme circumstances and you need to stay there during which time you would be able to get a new one.

Yes, in case you experience some calamity on a trip which delays your return. You can travel back to your home country with less than 6 months remaining.

Hey Dimdam...

Glad to hear your heading to Greece...amazing country! The answer to your question is no. It's "recommended" that you have a passport that has been valid for six months, but not required. You may encounter a bit more scrutiny if it's only a month old, but you'll be fine.

I would recommend getting it as soon as possible. If you don't have it yet and your traveling this year, then I would pay the extra money and get it expedited. You'll get it in about a week then...costs about $60 more...i think.

Anyway, good luck and have fun!!

Check with the authorities - Don't call the person ur flying with cuz they are crap - Contact greek the embassy - They can let you know.

Depends how ironic you are

It depends on what country your visa is from, but generally, traveling anywhere in Europe requires at least 3 months validity remaining on your passport. That doesn't necessarily include the date you'll be traveling home but cutting it too close will keep you a little longer at the immigation desk.

It needs 6 months on it to go anywhere outside the UK apart from Eire, where you don't need one at all.

For some countries it does, i know of someone who was put back on a plane from Turkey because he only had one month from expiry.
There wasn't much of an explanation given, maybe they were concerned he wouldn't return to the UK after the hols and he'd be there with no current passport.

Would you take the risk?

soubassakis
As long as it is valid for your trip, there is no problem, I suppose!

as long as your passport is valid for the dates you are travelling it is ok , i have just returned back 6 weeks ago and my passport runs out this weekend , to be 100% sure check with the passport office on the website www.passports.gov.uk , theres a telephone number that you ring and it tell`s you the info there .
