They need us you are totally right,we don't need them!
EU is about to break up,there are lots of arguments around member countries. We should ignore them, then they will beg us to be a member. There is a nice sentence in Turkey "kacan kovalanir" that's right.Look at switzerland, they are begging switzerland to be a member of EU but they don't want to be,we should be another switzerland i thing. They are losers not us! |

yeeeee i agree with you pal These politicians put us through this way.We dont need to be in europe to be civilized.
İf we are a part of europe one day they will come more and more to pie in our seas.No way! What about our people who has never seen the seaside.Again these politicians who sees the population like they can not decide anything they need to be guided.**** them all.
why dont we choose people who have graduated from ODTU in the last 10 years to rule the government.
they would give the wind necessary under the wings of Turkey.İ am fed with those big *** old politicians who burns loads of gas in their armoured mercedes.and i dont even have a shıt car.
we even rent the speed train from Italy.couldnt we produce it in Eskısehır?they sukk man these people sukk.
İ also want my petrol share in Kerkuk and Musul and i m planning to buy enough food and beer with that money and chill in my house.İ m Turkish my known speciality is that i like to sit looking at a beatiful view hours and hours in a wealthy situation but this is getting erased from my DNA. |

No, Turkey does not need E.U. and believe me, she must not.... Euro has been a disaster for the economy of Greece, Italy and other countries, and in addition we have a great problem with immigration from all former communist countries and increase of crime....
I have to add this: The powerful countries just program everything according to their own interests... They have decided that greek agriculture must be eliminated (so that the dutch be favoured) and that greece must become a country of touristic services. We've already become a place of waiters, hotel grooms etc. I believe they have the same plans for Turkey too... A big market place to absorb their products (from tecnology to food) and in return a country to render cheap touristic services to them... Brothers, keep your independence and do not become their servants... |

Your right. I mean Turkey has it own thing. Eurp would love to take that away. Turkey needs to stop thinking about joining the eurpean union and start improving schools and other stuff. I live in Antalya. Turkey needs to improve on road safety and polis needs to improve! Turkey does not need Europe to improve turkey can do it by its self. Turkey just needs the right minds and the right people. Turkey needs to stop smoking. All my friends in school smoke, they need reklamlar for smoking and how bad it is. And the GOV. needs to offer more services to the turkish people. Ataturk would love turkey to grow and be a wonderful country. I love Ataturk! Go to the website I gave you. Turkey needs stuff like this. http://themoreyouknow.com/Smoking/ |

If Switzerland is able to live very well without being member of European Union, I suppose Turkey can also do the same...
With Turkey, Europe would be much stronger, but Europeans are racist...The problem is that if Europe says "no", then Turkey can be very difficult to controlate, and maybe Turks will do some dangerous alliances with some extremist muslim countries...It's a danger...If Turkey was an enemy, it would be much more dangerous than Iraq,Iran or North Corea...But they are not an enemy, they are our friend...So we have to give our hand to them...Europeans are scared, because Turks are muslims, because Turks have not solved the poverty problem...But someday when Turks will be rich country, what will do Europe ?
Actually, I think the benefits would be more Europe side than Turkey side, and I suppose Turks are beginning to understand it now...If we don't accept Turkey, I suppose we will regret it in the future...And it will be too late...
Ask to the Jews who escape from Spanish Inquisition and Nazi Germany if they think Europe doesn't need Turkey...Turkey saved the life of these people... |

Europe does not need Turkey - and has for obeying European rule that your look out - your government who you voted in want to join the union for the better of your country. I am English and personally I do not want to be in the EU either but we have been in it a lot longer - and would vote to go out if I had the opportunity. |

I think Europe definately needs Turkey because of how smart their military is. Yet, I think Turkey is too good for Europe and therefore should stick with the way it is. Half Europe, half Asian. |

You're right; you don't need Europe. And if they decide to let you join them some day, do what everyone would do when they're not satisfied with their own country: leave it! Go to Europe, of course. In that way it will not come to you, you will go to it. Like millions of Turks before and after you. |

Nobody needs each other. I think that Turkey is really hand in hand with the USA. Just look at your air force. It doesn't contain one piece of EU equipment. It's all from the USA. I think Turkey would be better off if they didn't joined the EU, but actually kept going with the USA. |

TO SASSYBABY: You should ask the question like this: If Europe didn't need Turkey, why did they ask from Turkish government to send his workers to the continent? |

Union between Europe and Turkey would be a good thing for both sides, event though uneducated people in Europe do'nt even seem to realize it...But I also think that Turks don't need Europeans so much...
Ask the question to Bush and the Americans who keep having a military base in Incirlik... |

I'm not Turkish, but I'm with you on this - I say Turkey doesn't need the EU!
The EU is busy trying to gentrify the entire continent with their little rules about selling fruit and restoring buildings. I mean, I do agree that Turkey needs to work on some things (namely human rights and free speech), but so do a lot of places; that doesn't mean they should all go out and lobby to join the EU! |

EU needs Turkey.. firstly bec. Turkey is a very very big bazaar for their products. Secondly, Eu needs Turkish Army to be stronger bec. Turkey is the second biggest NATO ally.
Thirdly, EU needs Turkey as a door to sell its products to ASIA... Does Turkey need EU? NO? I am Turk. and I dont want to be in that union simply because we are Turks... We like to be independent as Atatürk prescribed to us..... Have a nice holiday, to everybody... |

Well, you seem to have settled it and noting the answers of your fellow Turks it seems the answer is simple, Turkey should never be admitted to the EU.
And, of course you won't care because, as you say, you don't need Europe.
There will be no anger expressed against the EU states because you don't need Europe.
There will be no one calling the EU "fascist" or racist because you don't need Europe.
Everyone in Turkey will be happy because they don't have to "obey Europe's orders" and, of course, you don't need Europe.
Glad you've settled that. I hope every European reads your "question" and the responses of the Turkish people here and understands that you don't WANT to join Europe and therefore that they should tell their governments to end discussions with Turkey.
After all, you don't need Europe. |

"If Switzerland is able to live very well without being member of European Union, I suppose Turkey can also do the same..."
said someone.
i think it is not comparable. Switzerland is a small country with low population. but turkey is a lot bigger than Switzerland. i think turkey needs EU but EU doesn't need turkey. as much as I understand they want to control turkey because turkey has an important position. it is not like Switzerland. no way |

You´re right - Tukey does NOT need to join their "club". And honestly, Europe does not intend to let Turkey ever join the EU anyway. Just listen to what their leaders are saying....
But apart from the EU membership, Europe does need Turkey - imports are increasing, and more and more Turkish products are in the stores here. Esp. things like clothing and glasswares (major export items of Turkey).
On the other hand, Turkey needs its part in the Euopean market, because it is able to export these items to them. This shouldn´t be jepordized, especially because the Turkish textile industry is being pressured by the even cheaper Chinese products coming out on the market.
So in other words, EU and Turkey should stay on "good terms", at least superficially, and keep trade up. But I think most Turks, and even AKP, has woken up to the fact that the EU dream is over, and that Turkey is probably better off without them. |
