ireland- it was much more expensive and it was also much more beautiful and scenic in the countryside. the cities are overcrowded and gross

It's a little strange that so many questions here starts with the notion that being American is the normal thing...

I think it would be better if people instead were asked for a country they like, which is not their own - that would make the question possible to answer for everyone (and someone who is not an American, specifically asked not to mention the US, might actually suggest the US...)

SUE
Spain. So old-world and romantic. Especially the South. I lived there for a year, and just went back. I would hop on a plane anytime I could to visit.

Of course, the US is definitely the best place to be citizen, and I live in the best part of the US, but since you stipulated NOT, then it has to be Spain. Want ideas? email me.

It's very difficult to say what my favorite country is. But I like Europe a lot (Paris, Rome, London, Prague) it's completely different from the USA, people, customs, architecture, history. But I also like California, New York...

scotland. the people are so friendly, and the food is completely different from here, some of it might not be considered the best but its amazing how its all created and stuff. scotland might be one of the prettiest places on earth, especially up in the highlands, at one of the castles or on the isle of skye. even with the rain it still manages to take your breath away. glasgow and edinburgh are amazing cities, so eclectic and scenic with amazing shops. no where on earth will you get better afternoon tea and a scone! their accents are adorable and scottish people are hilarious. scottish traditions are so unique and you can tell the native scots really take pride in their country!
