ABSOLUTELY NOT.. KOSOVO HAS BEEN PART OF SERBIA FOR THE LAST 1400 YEARS. .
The history of Kosovo, and the Balkans in general, is complex, bloody, much manipulated and a subject often devolving into fierce argument. However, the generally agreed facts .
FROM 5 and 6 CENTURY KOSOVOVA WAS SERBIAN 1400 YEARS
Slavic tribes comprising the nucleus of people that became the modern Serbs moved south and settled the lands of present-day Serbia and Kosovo during the fifth and sixth centuries BC. That means that Serbs have been present there for more than 1 400 years.
ALBANIAN KOSOVO , SERBIAN TERRITORY
Albanians as a collective people were first recorded in 1043, in Greece and not Kosovo, roughly 500 years after the Serbs had settled the area. Efforts to place them as a people in Kosovo using linguistic techniques before this time have ended in pure speculation.
Roughly speaking, Serbs controlled Kosovo for the next 800 years before losing a major battle in 1389 on Kosovo soil to the Turks of the Ottoman Empire, a solemnly infamous battle in Serbian history. There is some record of Albanians fighting on the Serbian side in the battle, but whether they came from present-day Albania or Kosovo is not known. At this time fewer than 2% of the farms and homesteads in Kosovo were Albanian by census.
SERBIA HABE LEGITIMATE RIGHT TO KOSOVA/ PROVINCE OF
SERBIA
What of the Serbs, though? They clearly have a strong legitimate historical claim to the territory, the territory is still a province of Serbia, the Nato invasion and occupation of sovereign territory was a breach of international law and external powers are now deciding that Serbia’s national and religious homeland will be removed regardless of their thoughts on the matter. It would appear they have a right to be concerned about the events in progress when you review the facts.

Russia could recognize Kosovo's independence.......... As a matter of fact, the Kosovo experience can be used by the Russians to apply rules and foreign policies at its convenience throughout the formerly soviet republics....(As we already seen in the Georgia-South Ossetia conflict).
As we can remember, Kosovars (supported by the US) claimed their independence (unilaterally) of Serbia, with the argument of ethnical differences and lack of representation in the serbian government. Serbia and mother Russia immediatly respond that Kosovo should be considered as an autonomous region of serbia. They were ignored and quickly the European Union backed the US and Kosovo and recognized the new independent country.
So, Russia is now playing the same game trying to back and support some pro-russian regions inside the former Soviet Republics to claim its independence and join /or get closer to Moscow. South Ossetia (Pro Russian region inisde the US-Supported country of Georgia) was the perfect example of how Russia is paying back with the same money to its OTAN partners (EU and USA).
As I mentioned at the beggining Russia could recognize Kosovos independenca, but THEY ARE NOT going to do it cause they find the perfect excuse to increase their influence in the Area (Former Soviet Republics). And if they do that, Im pretty sure they will ask the USA to recognize independance of other autonomous regions in US supported countries such as Georgia.
I want to say, that countries should not be created as a result of ethnical or religious differences between their inhabitants.....I think that countries should be multi-ethnical, should grant the freedom of faiths and governmnents should represent each of its inhabitants........In that way, I think Quebec must be part of Canada, Cataluña must be part of Spain, and ..mmhh....its hard to say about Kosovo, I really think that unification is better than separatism, but in the same logic thinking I would say Kosovo should still be considered as a region of Serbia............. but there was too many blood in the Balcans,.....I just have to say that Im happy for the Kosovars, since they look very happy about their independence.. ..... |

I don't know if Russia would recognize Kosovo. It's a matter of the high politics.
But I know that:
Ferdinand Saxe-Coburg-Gotha and his successors were/are not the people of Bulgaria.
Tito was not the people of Serbia.
The ordinary Bulgarians and Serbs have always cherished good feelings for their Russian братушки.
The history of Serbia was written with blood in Kosovo, that's why Kosovo was and will remain the proud of Serbs.
Srbi, braćo, i Bogu je žao. |

If a country wants to be independent, then let it. In Kosovo case, chances are that their economic system will fail and it will be absorbed back.
History has always redrawn national borders, whether through wars or alliances. Trying to prevent this is unnatural and will most likely lead to more bloodshed. |

now that Russia recognized Abkhazia and S.Ossetia
yes, Russia should recognize Kosovo!
it can’t be the matter of sympathies/hatred, this is a humanitarian matter, and all 3 are the facts! The facts should be reckoned with;
moreover, after extraditing Karadžić by Serbs there’s no reason to be more Serb than themselves;
Slav bratuški always betrayed Russia!
Bulgaria has never been on Russia’s side in any war after Osmans;
Tito has never been with Russia, too!
How many times should Russia walk on the same rake like in world war one?
Russia must look after its own interests as all normal nations do!
there’s Russian proverb паны дерутся, у холопов чубы трещат = national leaders waging wars their subjects are being killed; historical aspects are for scientists, demographic problems are for politicians! Serbs may keep worshipping historical Kosovo, yet nowadays the fact is it’s Kosova; why? Because Yugoslavia deliberately populated its southern territories with refugee Albanians during Tito’s rule, Serbs being taciturn; history is not a chess party to take your stupid moves back!
The main task of national leaders is to protect their subjects lest bloodthirsty Taçin’s and Saakashvilli’s would ever surprise them. Russia did it neatly, while Serbia flunked. |

Not Russian but - no, absolutely not. Only the US supports this, so it can divide up former Socialist lands away from Russia.
They'll want Moldova to join with Romania (& EU, NATO etc) next.
It is time for Russia (and her allies) to stand up to this new Imperialism. |

I do not know much about Kosovo, but in my understanding in Georgia Russia has demonstrated a double-standard.
Firstly, because historically and geographically Russia invaded integrated parts of Georgia that were as such in centuries before Russia even existed. Tzhinval (the South Ossetia) is located in the Transcaucasia and was populated by Ossetian refugees from the North Ossetia, which is located in the North Caucasus area. Both Ossetias do not even have adjacent borders. The same pertains to Abkhazia (the State of the Golden Fleece).
Secondly, why Russia has never acknowledged independence of the Chechnya?
In my opinion Kosovo is nothing, but a lousy excuse to justify recent Russia’s actions against the Georgia. |
