Typical Polish cuisine is unhealthy (but we manage, somehow). Meats are grilled or fried rather than cooked. The most frequent meat dish is a pork chop, with potatoes and cabbage cooked with some marjoram and allspice for flavor. Beef has usually the form of beef rolls: bits of beef rolled around a bit of carrot, a bit of dry mushroom, a bit of pickled cucumber, and a bit of bacon, all pinned together with a toothpick and stewed. Chicken is usually roast whole, often stuffed. Lamb is practically non-existent, except at gourmet restaurants. Greens: lettuce or sliced cucumber with sour cream, cabbage (both stewed and fresh), carrots, beans, peas. Potatoes: boiled (often mashed), fried (whole or as French fries) or as potato salad (boiled, cooled, oil, onion and pepper added). Pasta: frequently added, instead of potatoes, to such things as mince cutlets, fried eggs, goulasch. And though restaurants would serve meals in the Anglo-American manner (breakfast, lunch, dinner), at home people eat the main meal (lunch/dinner) at about 4-5 PM and a summer in the evening, and if the span between breakfast and the main meal is too long, they grab a couple of sandwiches or even a snack (a chocolate bar or a piece of cake) meanwhile. Unhealthy, didn't I say so?

i totally love the polish kitchen
very delicious different flavours
:)
i went there for a holiday once

topink
a liking for sour foods: yogurt, vinegar, dill pickles, sauerkraut, sour cream.
Beet soup (borscht/borszcz) is great!
I had something like medallions of pork cooked in mushrooms and sour cream on top of noodles. A good salad, good bread, and some good desserts! I want more.

mop rolls (fish in brine)
pork rind in fat
chocolat coated marshmallowy things
and lots of other weird stuff

Peace.Love.&.Cheese. :]
You have never tried ANYTHING like Polish food! There are Pierogi (which are like ravioli's but better), barscz (beet soup), kopytka, ogorkowa zupa (pickle soup; I know, sounds icky, but it tastes better than it sounds), and sooooo much more. :) By the time you leave Poland, you'll gain 5 pounds because of all the choices.

Pockyman
Sausages are very good ,ham and also candy they are so deliciouss you can find the dessert in here USA like this.

Krzys
If you are from the UK, then remember to taste Polish bread (it is best when it is still hot). You will never ever want to return to the stuff British people call bread :)
