George, some people are born with a poorer taste. But they can still change. I wish you all the best in your future learning. |

I've been to Prague several times and I must say, I really love it there. It's one of the few cities in the world that I have visited and actually liked. I think it's because it is so quiet and peaceful. Places like Paris, London, Tokyo and New York are too noisy and busy for my liking. I can't wait to go back. I didn't really look at the architecture much, to be honest. I'm just not really very educated where that kind of thing is concerned. |

Sorry, I have to disagree. The buildings in Prague are so beautiful and full of character. Isn't the fact that you describe them as strange telling? It is just a matter of taste and they obviously did not appeal to you. Isn't beauty in the eye of the beholder? Lol! |

The cathedral in Prague is breathtaking and it is a beautiful place....it's just a matter of personal taste I think. |

are you crazy? prague's architecture is incredible! there is a such a mix of different architerctural styles varying from gothic - baroque - to plain boring communist archectures - so on and so on.. you must have not read up about prague before you went - otherwise you would better understand the significance of what you were seeing. |

Prague's architecture is amazing. This city does not need monuments, it's a monument by itself. At least the central part (Stare Mesto, Nove Mesto, Mala Strana, Hradcany), but also much of the rest too. Personally, it's the city i've liked the most. |

I am from Czech Republic and I have to disagree but to each their own.
Prague is absolutely a beautiful city with a lot of architectures. They fasicinate me. I really love Prague Castle and all.
I think it is because you have not been there to see for yourself which is why you hear and look at the photos on the Internet and wonder, "geez, they don't look interesting to me" - they are just pictures and some do not do justice.
Come to Prague and other places and see if you have a change of opinion. |

i have just returned from prague and yes i loved the architecture, it was really impressing for me the style of the buildings, they are all historical(from gothic and baroque era) lots of churches, bridges, sculptures, towers, glory.. budapest was also beautiful but if you go to somewhere like budapest you may get bored cuz only think you can do is to look and abstract the architecture and nothing else but the life in Prague is more colorful and vivid so you can have great fun in Old Town surrounded by the great architecture lloll |

Well, there are strange, boring and even ugly buildings and quarters in CEE cities, but that's not what those people are referring to when they are talking about breathtaking views. Like in the US, you have to make your eyes (and mind) blind for slums, ugly appartment buildings and bad neighborhoods and focus on the nice ones.
Anyway, if you find Vienna or Salzburg boring, then you won't be excited with Budapest, Prague, Riga or Krakow. What you have to ask yourself is, whether Miami, Kuala Lumpur or Dubai are exciting? Not to me. |
