Yes, Greece looks as good or even better than the pictures! I spent a day in Athens before doing a tour of the some of the CYCLADES islands. I would go back in a heart beat. The island/sea scenery is fantastic, ancient ruins in many places, friendly people, cheap, and easy going.
I visited Tinos; a famous pilgrimage island for it's church, rented a 200cc motor bike for US$15 and drove everywhere; Naxos, famous ruins, rented a bicycle and climbed some challenging hills. Mykonos, a party island! Very Venice like main town. Santorini, sits on the cone of an ancient volcano. Excellent hike along the crest with lovely white washed towns. Finally, don't miss a tour of Delos, which is the ancient city for Apollo. The entire island is literally a museum. Stay overnight at nearby Paros island and visit for the day.

First to tell you the truth I'm french married to a greek and I lived in greece 6 years!

I realy enjoy macedonia and that's why I did my studies there about ancient Macedonia.

Thessaloniki is a great town, young with a lot of things to do. In Chacidiki you have very nice beach quiet. you could go also in Thasos, it's an island in front of Kavala. I like Kavala too and the museum. You could go to Vergina, the alexander's father tomb. Dion and Philippi are 2 archeologic towns very nice to visit.Don't forget to go in edessa to see the falls.

I like this country very much but of course there is few things which have to be changed: too much loud, too much durt...

This was one of the finest travel experiences we ever had.Having traveled several countries inEurope, our travel agent suggested a tour of Greece. Flew into Athens which had some historic sites worth seeing, then up the coast near the Aegean Sea to Thesselonica to the interior where monks live in solitude on high peaks. We saw Delphi, The island of Corfu which was magnificent. The sites are asgood as you will see in pictures, the Greeks approved of Americans.

I go to Greece every year to do some work and because of it I have visited many parts of the country and its multi-faceted seascapes and landscapes. I can attest to the fact that many places, Meteora and Santorini to name but two, far exceed in beauty and inspiration any still or moving pictures one sees.

It was love at first sight when I came to Greece first time in 1984. First I fell in love with Athens, then with Myconos, but then I discovered the unspoilt northern Greece - and that's where I've been living for the past 15 years. Now I run a guesthouse and a restaurant here - and welcome other people that I hope will discover what a lovely country this is!

Wicked Apathy
I’m Scottish and I keep coming to Greece (Corfu) for many years. The entire country -from Macedonia to Crete- is honestly beautiful. People are amazing too. I will keep visit, there is so much too see!

Say the truth!
I lived in Greece for almost a year. I did part of my studies in Macedonia and I had excellent time there. (I'm talking about the authentic Macedonia, the northern region of Greece, the birthplace of Alexander the Great. Not to be confused with FYROM -Former Yugoslav Republic Of Macedonia- which is a modern Slavic/Albanian state at the north of Macedonia)
Greek people are amazing; honest, kind, friendly, very funny and a bit crazy too! : ) Greece is a beautiful country, I will definitely go back sometime to see more of it.

Thalassaki
Greece is absolutely Beautiful with History, Gorgeous Seas, Food abd Culture. All the islands are beautiful and yes they ARE just like the pictures you see!

Kiz M
I think Santorini is the most beautiful place I have ever seen in my life, and I've done some traveling in America, China, Thailand, Korea, Cambodia, Canada, and Greece.

Misviv
Greece definitely looks better than it does in pics. And it goes beyond that. The sweet summer breeze, the serenity of its surreal sea, the flowing sounds of bouzouki ... even the rancid smell of its donkeys will be sweet memories you cherish for a long time.

Greece is beautiful - the scenery magnificent. The islands have their 'look' but the mainland is more breathtaking (in my opinion) The mountain road from Athens to Antirrio passing Livadia/ Delphi /Arakovo/ Itea is really wonderful. I love mountain views so I get bored on islands (but that's me - I've lived here 20 yrs). I'm biased towards Preveza as I've lived here for 10 yrs and having travelled all over Greece and most of the islands - I adore Preveza www.preveza.gr
What spoils Greece is unfortunately the Greeks themselves! They are complete litter bugs! They think nothing of leaving rubbish anywhere and everywhere ... they throw plastic water bottles out of car windows without a 2nd thought! In fact I counted 34 plastic water bottles on the side of the road from house to my shop yesterday .... a 5 min bike ride!
Also hygiene is not to a very high standard is in most tavernas - I do what I call the 'toilet crawl' I know where to eat according to toilets! I have two daughters so I have to choose carefully. When it's just Hubby and me we eat anywhere! My Greek husband seems to think the dirtier the place - the better the food! I realise this is not to do with the scenery but it can be quite off-putting. I'm used to the dirt but it can still get to me! I also lived in Athens for 8 yrs - Great city ... very busy and hectic.
I've lived in Preveza/Athens/Kos ..... I'm been everywhere on the mainland - all major cities and most villages including mountain villages! Islands - Crete / Kos / Corfu /Lefkada / Santorini / Paros/ Poros/ Agina / Nisiros/ Kalymnos / Andros / Hydra / Spetses / and loads loads more ......

Even after my 20 yrs here - I still wish there were hygiene officers to keep a check on tavernas etc and Children were taught at school (and home) to respect their enviroment ..... however I would not let this stop me from seeing wonderful Greece!!!
