Greek food is typically mediterranean food with some taste of oriental spice, based mainly on cooking with olive oil.

It is the best nutrition, provided that olive oil combined with a very large variety of vegetables, legumes, fish, poultry and little meat together with fruit, especially citrus fruit, containing lots of vitamine C prove to be extremely healthy and long life preserving.

Actually, 2-3 days ago (I don't remember its date now) it was Europe Spring Day and our school celebrated it.There was a Greece part too and there was a delight like apple pie, and I didn't like it..

But there are lots of similar things between Turkish and Greek food and I love Turkish food, so maybe Greek food too ;-)

And Famous Baklava is a Turkish Food but Greeks cook it also..
The point is most of their food is not greek it is yamm mediterranean and turkish food..

i know greek kitchen and turkish kitchen is very similar but can't be better than turkish cousin i think.i know it is a typical mediterrian style with olive oil,clove and some greens but in turkish cousin it is mixed with mid-eastern cousin that tastes like no other!! Turkish cousin has a soul i can feel that :)

The best in what way??? Taste wise it is an impossible question to answer as taste is a very personal thing. There is a mind boggling variety of tastes out there on this open wide world. Of late we are told that the best diet for us humans is the Mediterranean diet. The term does not apply only tio Greece but the whole of the eastern Mediterranean. That includes The coast line of Turkey, Syria, Lebanon. Jordan. Egypt and most of north Africa. There is an impressive number of similar or even identical ways of cooking down to having the same name. It is not surprising as this part of the world has been interacting for at least ten thousand years.
A note about Turkey. They are newcomers in the area-they arrive from the Asian steps and start settling in modern turkey in the 10th century AD. They were nomadic and constantly on the run. NO TIME TO SPEND ON THE CULINARY ARTS. When thy settle they adapted their life style to the existing cuisines at the time. Most of the influence comes from the Arabs

One day, I crossed the border into Greece... For some reason everything was closed so we walked around looking for something to eat and finally found a little dive. The lights very low and you couldn't see well enough to see what food was available. There were little shishes with meat skewered on them marinating. There was no cover on anything and no refrigerator. We decided to go for it anyway.... we pointed to our selection and the chef started grilling. AND IT WAS QUITE POSSIBLY ONE OF MY MOST MEMORABLE FOOD EXPERIENCES, it was delicious. I can still taste it. I have no idea what animal I ate.

you are reading some miss truths i see from some responses Greeks cook and dine since the years of homer they so many books in your library to verify some they telling you because of Greece's occupation from the Mongolians they have an input in their cooking but you can read you can be the judge bon appetite on the Greek food..
