Going to Europe for 14 nights. Where should I spend more time at?

I only have a 2 week break from school next year and I can go to Europe for 14 nights max. It will be me and my boyfriend's first trip to Europe. I want to see Dublin, Paris, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Rome, and Venice. I understand that is alot, but coming from California, I don't know if I could do the flight again in the future (I have never done a long flight)....so needless to say I have to fit in what I can on this trip in hopes that I see as much as possible. If I had the time and money I would move to Europe for a year!! Anyways, so I HAVE to cram my trip a little (and I know many hate it when tourists do that)....but I would rather do that then miss out on seeing at least some of the greatest cities in Europe.

I can see all of these cities and spend at least 2 nights in each (we will be flying between all cities on budget airlines to maximize the time we have to sightsee and also to save money). We can spend 3 nights in 2 of the cities, but I don't know which to pick!!! Help.

I have lived in Europe for 4 yrs. it is a Beautiful !

There is Plenty to do and see... Having 2 weeks will keep you busy.

Out of the 2 cities that you can stay 3 nights, I would pick one of these 3. Dublin Ireland ( very beautiful and very relaxing )
Rome ( Lots of Ruins and Plenty of Walking )
Barcelona ( I've never been so I can't tell you what to expect ).

Amsterdam is nice but Extremely busy. They are like a town of Bicycles... You Must be careful as they believe that if you aren't on a bike, then you are in the wrong ( as far as getting from place to place ).
We had difficulty getting to downtown attractions due to Road Construction. We had to hire a taxi to help and it seemed like every road we took we had to turn around and find another way.
The Anne Frank House is in Amsterdam and a MUST to see if you go.
I don't know that I would skip Venice.. I thought it was a lovely city. Very romantic... Not sure I would take an interest in Florence.
Paris has the Eiffel Tower, lots of shopping and The Notre Dame. The Arc de Triomphe is a must and The Louvre ( to see all of this, will take you at least a week but one thing the Louvre has in it is the painting of Mona Lisa ). Paris has a very romantic ambiance about it.

Be sure to bring Good Walking Shoes. You will be doing Plenty of walking.

If you are interested in Buckingham Palace to see the Changing of the Guard, I would do a stopover in London. There's the Parliament and Big Ben, Westminster Abbey where Princess Diana's funeral was held. Windsor Castle but you can't tour inside. St. Paul's Cathedral where Princess Diana and Prince Charles were married. Harrod's Department store ( Dodi Fayed's father owns this ) there is a memorial in the lower floors of Diane and Dodi. Very nice arrangement and the Tower of London where the Crown Jewels are kept.

Where ever you decide to go, please don't rush yourself through Europe. I just came back from a 16 day trip to the UK and my plans were just like yours at first (to see everything I could possibly fit in during 16 days) and honestly, that is not the smartest thing to do. I ended up staying in London the whole time. When you go somewhere like Europe what you want to do is absorbe all that you can and take in the culture and history of the city (don't be like a lot of people that parade around in tour buses and take a picture of the location, check it off of the list and move on) you loose the beauty of the places like that. I would recommend you go to two locations and really take it in. In my humble opinion, you will enjoy your trip a thousand times more that way.

What a load of crap I just read up there ^

Do NOT skip Venice, that would be the biggest travel mistake you'll ever make.

Have you considered Germany at all? I particularly love Koln. The Gothic cathedral there is Divine. Took my breath away!

Dispose more days for Rome and Venice. You will never regret it.

Focus on what you are really interested in (culture, food, historical sites, etc.) and make a decicions based on their. Some places have better current night life, while others have a lot more significant historical value. Talk to your travel agent about these factors and they can help guide you towards the best schedule.

14 days is really too short.

Determine where your preferences are and consider your choices carefully.

If i had to decide, i would go to Dublin (great atmosphere and nice people), and one of the scandinavian countries. (Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland).

I would pick Paris and Rome. I loved them both!!

I'd skip Venice. The city is basically a floating museum, most of the population is gone, and restaurants there are infamous for ripping off tourists who can't speak Italian. If you're going to do two Italian cities, I'd do Rome and Florence. The rest of the cities you list all sound fine.

Amsterdam has fantastic art museums, although the food is kind of lousy and it's always flooded with tourists. Maybe consider Copenhagen or Stockholm instead? I think Stockholm is the 2nd most beautiful city in Europe.
