Rome (and Italy in general) can be very romantic, but Rome in July is supposed to be extremely hot and crowded. Amsterdam will be crowded, too, but you probably won't have to deal with the heat issues. |

Amsterdam of course....
Many things to do....many things to see.....different everything in Amsterdam and around it
Also you can visit a place with tulips that i think is something very romantic....
Also you can smoke....till death with your spouse
Rome is expensive and boring....Also the guys are so hot that maybe your marrioage will be in danger....
Shopping is very expensive exept if your partner has really a lot of money and spend for you big baggs full of ARMANI D&G and Versace!

I spent 5 days in Amsterdam and an entire week in Italy, including Rome. I will definitely go back to Amsterdam.
The people were much more friendly, the city is much cleaner, I felt much more safe in Amsterdam. The history, culture and museums are just unbelieveable there.
Congratulations and have a wonderful trip! |

Having been to both places..i would say go to Amsterdam, this is a place of the "ultimate city of freedom" and overall more fun place to visit. Rome has it's romantics and so does Amsterdam. You can rent a boat and travel through Amsterdam's many, many channels that will take u all over the city. Everybody speaks English! I mean everybody, you will see lots of Americans there. It maybe easier for you to communicate in Amsterdam than in Rome than having to have a italian dictionary everywhere...unless you speak italian. People do speak in Deutsch in Amsterdam but English is very common. You will have alot of places to see, just check it out on wikipedia. Oh and you and your spouse can order from a marijauna menu and meet some intersting people at "coffee shops" and then return to the honeymoon suite. |

Id love it if my new husband chose Amsterdam for our honeymoon! If your wife isnt interested in the sleazier side of the city, just stay out of the red light district!
Have fun! |

I like Amsterdam because it's a nice city and it's easy to get around |

I went to Rome last summer with my husband and it was so romantic, the Emerald City, so much to do. And we combined it with Venice and Tuscany. It was one of our best trips ever. Depending on how much time you have, you could even fly through Amsterdam and spend a day or two on your way home or to Rome since so many flights go through there.
Beware of the Euro/Dollar exchange rate!!!
My travel advisor, Jason, knew so much about Europe and really helped us out and made the trip seamless and perfect without us having to worry about a thing. |

Rome! Although I'm Dutch myself, I would never chose Amsterdam for my honeymoon.
Go to Rome, it's a great city, warm in July, yes, but much more fascinating then Amsterdam could ever be.
Have a nice trip and a happy, longlasting marriage. |

I've been in both and loved both visits. Any of them would be all right for a honeymoon, just that it depends on the tastes. In my opinion, Amsterdam has those lovely canals in which going on a boat trip can be very romantic! However I would choose Rome since has the tradition background and the overall atmosphere of being a city of love (the opposite of ROMA is AMOR which means in fact "love" in latin languages). In Amsterdam what you think first is the "Red Light Disctrict" although there is much more than that (and dutch people, please don't get offended at what I say, as I love Amsterdam!!). But anyway, if you think of Rome you remember the video clip of Bon Jovi "Thank you for loving me" recorded there in which the bride is running through the streets to meet the groom and all that! So I would definitively associate Rome with a honeymoon more than Amsterdam! But, hey, that is me! You should make your own choice!
Best wishes for the marriage!! |

Amsterdam - if you are interested in culture, love to dabble in a few cheap joints (just cos you can), want lots of really nice, friendly people to mingle with, have a fun night life, ride a bike, love good food (and believe me, Holland has to-die-for food!!!!), then this is a must. Honeymoon? Well, because most of the accommodation has very narrow, spirally stairs, and being on your honeymoon, you should not have too many clothes with you!!! then this should not be a problem.
Rome - this is more historical culture, probably more romantic than Amsterdam and you can more likely find some place private than you could in Amsterdam.
It all depends on your taste. Personally for a honeymoon I would pick Rome, for a fun time I would pick Amsterdam. |

hi there,
congrats on ur upcoming big day. well, having live in both cities, i'll say Rome for newly weds. y'all can have one on one time and also enjoy good food, wine, etc and make some very good memories there. this is not to say that u will not get that in Amsterdam. see Amsterdam is a bit wild and i will re command for people who've been married for sometime to you know, ginger them up and bring the fire back red hot or should i say hotter. not a very romantic city as Rome.
hope u make a great choice. then again i don't know what kind of couple y'all are. which ever, y'all have an awesome time. |

Rome, for sure.
Especially on a honeymoon the magic of this city will boost your moods.
Ancient Rome around every corner, it's just about the perfect place to be in love.. both with and in (pun intended).
It's not that Amsterdam isn't nice, it actually is. But not for a honeymoon.
Enjoy! |
